Richard Causey evidently didnt relish the idea of doing time so he is singing his ass off to the Feds regarding the other two bastards that were to be tried with him, founder Kenneth Lay and CEO Jeff Skilling. Their joint trials were to begin Jan 17th.
Causey is forfitting over 1.25 million bucks and agreed to 7 years in prison...if he really sings his ass off they will let him out in 5 years. The most his dumbass could of gotten for securities fraud was 10 years.
This shows me that the case against these three wasnt very strong. They needed one of them to turn on the others to get it done. Causey is a better snitch than Fastow since he didnt skim off millions like Fastow did.
God I hope these sumbitches get some real time...but methinks they all will cop pleas..it only makes sense now.

As a public service announcement..we present
The IVR Cheat Sheet.
I fucking hate those Interactive Voice Response call centers. Thats why so many people are unemployed dammit. I realize of course they are a neccessary evil..but that doesn't mean I have to like em..or deal with them if I am extremely pissed and foaming at the mouth about something.
I will post this on the sidebar..and you can bet your ass I will use it.

It was on this day in 1992 that W's daddy pulled a fast one.
That the FIRST Bush in the Whitehouse pardoned Casper "the ghost" Weinberger and five others for their roles in the Iran-Contra debacle. Casper was getting ready for his Jan 5th trial for lying his lil ass off to Congress about his knowledge of the arms sales to Iran and efforts by other countries to help underwrite the Nicaraguan rebels, a case that was expected to focus on Mr. Weinberger's private notes that contain references to Mr. Bush's endorsement of the secret shipments to Iran. The independent prosecutor, Lawrence E. Walsh, stated that he firmly believed the first Bush pulled the pardon card to protect his own ass. Walsh was investigating Bush for the "c" word..conspiracy. Bush, along with many of the Senior Reagan Whitehouse cronies conspired to lie and deceive Congress and the American public regarding the arms sales to Teheran, and the diversion of profits from those sales to help finance a covert weapons supply network to the contras, set up in 1985, AFTER Congress barred direct aid to the rebels.
Funny how everything eventually comes full circle aint it? Like Father, like son?
A link to the original NY Times article on the pardon and the lies and deceit from Bush #1 is here.

Coming soon: Abramoff becomes a big canary
According to NBC news Jack Abramoff is cutting a deal w/the federal prosecutors. He is scheduled to begin his trial in florida regarding the fraud he committed to purchase a fleet of gambling boats. His co-conspirator, Adam Kidan, has already cut a deal in that trial to toss Jackie A. under the bus.
Now Jackie is talking to the feds about who is dirty on Capitol Hill. Since his cronies are ALL Repubs, it stands to reason a whole lotta those good ol boys are shaking in their boots..specifically Delay. A piece from the MSNBC article: "The deal offered, say people close to the case: Abramoff would plead guilty in exchange for a reduced sentence — if he talks about his Washington connections, including former majority leader Tom Delay, R-Texas. "
Wonder if Tommy is smiling now. I know I am..
A link to the MSNBC article, although short is here.
The Washington Post has a more indepth article here. Slate's James Harding has a nice piece on Jackie here.

Artic Refuge and Oil..who is going to win this war?
The caribou that use the area known as "1002" are the most studied group of mammals in Alaska, and second in the world only to the wildebeest because they performs the world's most concentrated land animal migration AND because of longtime plans to drill for oil in their habitat.
Drilling in the Artic Refuge will save us ONE PENNY PER GALLON over 20 years..thats it sportsfans! Not one red cent more.
Our friends at Chevron were allowed to drill one exploratory well in this area back in 1980s, and the company has never released the results. Why havent they told us the results? What are they afraid of? What are they hiding?
Sometime this week the Senate will vote on the bill that Alaskan Senator Stevens tagged on a Iraq war appropriations bill. The sumbitch knows it was wrong to do that and admitted it but he is desperate. The Canadians are against it and a tribe known as the "Gwich'in" have depended on this herd of caribou for hundreds of years according to archeology studies in the area.
Contact your congress and senate reps NOW. Tell them to stop this madness and remove the attachment from the Iraq Appropriations Bill. Send Senator Stevens a message that his backroom politics are not acceptable all in the name of greed and oil. Write a letter to your local paper regarding this shit. I did and by god this republican stronghold rag known as the Bakersfield Californian is going to publish it in tomorrows editorial page. You can go here to do the same through MoveOn.Org for your local and regional newspapers.

Penn St's Womens Basketball coach accused of being homophobic
Espn has a great show called "Outside the Lines". This weeks episode will address Rene Portland's supposed homophobia. Jenn Harris has filed a complaint with the State's Human Rights Commision accusing Portland of discrimination and bias. This is not the first player that Portland has threatened. Jenn Harris states she is not gay but Portland perceived her as gay and began a campaign against her within the team.
There is a writeup on Espns website on this homophobic bullshit. The link to the article is here. The show will air Sunday morning (9:30 ET). They will interview another former player who was told by Rene Portland that if she was indeed "gay" that she would tell her parents, friends and the media. The player quit in fear of being outed to her family. Hopefully this bitch will be exposed for what she is and Jenn Harris will win. Harris has transferred to another school and will sit out this season since she is a transfer.

The House approved the "Patriot Act"..Senate is now on the clock.
Those lovely folks over in the House were more than happy to oblige Bushie and his cronies by approving the "NEW" and "IMPROVED" P.A.
4 Repubs are not happy with it in its current form..they told the Attorney General Alberto Gonazlez today when he hot-footed it over to the weekly Repub luncheon. They told Alberto's happy ass they are part of a bipartisan bunch of "heretics" than are planning a filibuster.
I say heretics only from Bush's point of view..i couldnt be happier!
The House passed the bill by a vote of 251 to 174. Forty-four Democrats voted for the bill, and 18 Republicans voted against it. God should bitch slap those that voted for this intrusion into our personal freedoms in the name of terrorism.
Guess what... John Sununu said..the Repubs CAN NOT muster the 60 votes needed to break the filibuster! I shat you not sportsfans! And Patrick Leahy, the senior Dem on the Judiciary Comm. agreed..
The boys in DC are all going home by this weekend..for the year..time is of the essence dont ya know?
Stay tuned for the latest ass-kissing developments..the NY Times has a short article on it..you can read it here.

Renew the Patriot Act? can you say pork-filled sandwich?
Yes, we most certainly need to renew the Patriot Act. We can not live without the pork within that friggin bill: Can anyone with half a brain tell me what mandatory drug testing, cigarette taxes and methamphetamine restrictions have to do with protecting America from terrorists? NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
But that craps all in there. Can you beleive it? I can, those bastards will stick anything in a bill.
Declan McCullagh has a good article over on TomPaine.com and Cnet about this bill. Only 16 friggin sections are going to expire Dec 31st, but they want to renew the whole damn thing. I smell a rat and its name is pork. Thats why the Repubs want to vote on it this week.

Tom Delays' grand plan for Texas will be reviewed by the Supreme Court
The US Supreme Court agreed today to consider the constitutionality of the redistricting plan concocted by Tommy Boy Delay. The major argument is that the redistricting diluted the minority voting strength within the state. This violates the Civil Rights Act of 1965, according to numerous lawsuits brought after the redistricting helped Repubs gain an additional 5 seats in 2004. The decision will be rendering prior to the summer recess. The case will be heard around March 1st. This is right before the election in Texas according to the NY Times article which you can read here. A brief excerpt of the article :
Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican, convened a special session in which the new redistricting plan finally cleared the House. But then several Democrats in the Senate went into hiding. Despite the stalling tactics, the State Legislature finally adopted the plan, in part because Mr. DeLay brokered an agreement that satisfied enough lawmakers. (Mr. DeLay was later rebuked by the House Ethics Committee for using the Federal Aviation Administration to trace a private plane that carried some of the Democrats out of Texas.)
This should be some kind of summer for ol Tommy Boy..his trial for money laundering and now the possibility that his grand plan for Texas might be tossed in the shitter. We can only hope that he will get his due...in both cases.

Baseball and the right to dissent. They dont mix in NYC evidently.
Carlos Delgado is now a Met. This in and of itself is not a bad thing. What does suck moist butthairs however is what the Mets ownership is pulling on Carlos. Carlos is from a small island which is part of Puerto Rico. This island, Vieques, has been used as a bombing practice site by the US for decades. People live on this island sportsfans. Yet, the US government continues to pummel it with various munitions to the detriment of its inhabitants and the environment. Carlos has spoken out about this and various other things he finds just plain wrong, including the war in Iraq. Carlos has chosen to not stand up during the playing of "God Bless America" during the 7th innning stretch. He has endured the cat calls and harrassement this personal expression has handed him. His former team, the Marlins did not attempt to silence Carlos, they allowed him to express his beliefs and utilize his right to dissent.
The Mets however will not allow Carlos this right. The ownership has made it very clear to Delgado that they will not tolerate any form of dissention and expect him to comply and stand during the playing of the song.Fred and Jeff Wilpon, the owner and CEO of the Mets said, "He's going to have his own personal views, which he's going to keep to himself." Jeffy also said "Fred has asked and I've asked him to respect what the country wants to do." THE COUNTRY IS TIRED OF THIS FUCKING WAR AND THE POLLS SHOW IT. So I have no idea which country Jeffy Wilpon is referring to.
During his press conference to announce his signing Carlos Delgado said "The Mets have a policy that everybody should stand for 'God Bless America' and I will be there. I will not cause any distractions to the ballclub.... Just call me Employee Number 21." Willie Randolph, the first Afro-American baseball manager told a reporter; "I'd rather have a man who's going to stand up and say what he believes. We have a right as Americans to voice that opinion." Omar Minaya, the first Latino GM merely towed the company line by saying "This is from ownership."
Fuck the Wilpons and their pandering to George Bush. I am sad that a voice has been silenced for no other reason than some narrow-minded owner doesn't want any controversy. If Carlos Delgado is willing to take the heat for his stand, they should support his right to say it.
I support everyone's right to say what they believe, even if I think they are dead wrong. I might be a leftwing nut job but our democracy allows me to be one without fear of retribution from our government.
The only thing that Carlos can smile about is that he will now be able to wear the number "21" in honor of his hero Roberto Clemente. Its a helluva price to pay though..working for the Wilpons.

An open letter to Joe Lieberman, Bush's patsy..
Hello,
Earlier this week while discussing the war in Iraq, Senator Joseph Lieberman said, "It's time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge he'll be commander-in-chief for three more critical years, and that in matters of war we undermine presidential credibility at our nation's peril."
Unfortunately, President Bush has no credibility. His administration misled our nation into war in Iraq on trumped-up charges of weapons of mass destruction. His stay-the-course strategy has led to over 2,100 American deaths. And no one sees an end in sight.
It is disturbing enough that Senator Lieberman remains one of the president's biggest cheerleaders. But his call for opponents of the president's failed policy to keep quiet is outrageous.
The only way we will end this war is by having an honest debate about how and when we can bring our troops home.
Join me in sending Senator Lieberman an open letter asking him to join the majority of Americans in questioning the Bush administration's Iraq policy:
http://tools.democracyforamerica.com/petition/telljoe?refid=52643992e1cac53e
If Americans don't challenge a president who is bankrupting our treasury, damaging our moral leadership in the world, and jeopardizing our national security then we are failing our democracy.
Please co-sign the letter today.
http://tools.democracyforamerica.com/petition/telljoe?refid=52643992e1cac53e
Next week, Jim Dean will join Democracy for America members in Connecticut and deliver our letter with your comments to Senator Lieberman's office.

Nobel Prize winner for Literature blasts US Policies.
He's very frail and has cancer of the esophagus, but Harold Pinter, the British playwright and poet still had enough fire left to blast the United States for what he termed: "supporting and in many cases engendering every right-wing military dictatorship" in the last 50 years." He took the opportunity during his acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize Wednesday evening to bitch slap the US for its human rights violations and the War in Iraq. His doctors forbid the 75 year old man to travel to Stockholm to receive his 1.3 million dollar check so he was seen on a large screen in a pre-recorded speech.
Mr. Pinter stated in a voice that was at times hoarse but steady nonetheless: "The crimes of the United States have been systematic, constant, vicious, remorseless, but very few people have actually talked about them," Mr. Pinter said. "You have to hand it to America. It has exercised a quite clinical manipulation of power worldwide while masquerading as a force for universal good. It's a brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis."
Mr. Pinter also took a few shots at Tony Blair. He stated that Blair and Bush should be tried before an International Court for their conspiracy regarding the reasons for the War in Iraq.
Harold Pinter is a playwright. His best known works are "The Caretaker" and "The Homecoming."

Cover your ass at all costs Ms. Blanco
As the Feds try to nail the various Louisiana agencies and their Democratic governor, Kathleen Blanco for all the horror stories and failures regarding the response to human suffering after Katrina hit, the Governor and her staff have released hundreds of thousands of state documents and recordings. These include emails, hand-written notes, correspondance with the White House and desperate pleas for help. Seems the leadership of LA. knew they were going to be sacrificed in the name of Bush and tried to stay ahead of the game. Of course it wasn't a game to the people trying to live thru the horror of Katrina but I think you get my drift. Two, count em, two Congressional committees are "looking" into the states preparedness and response to the worst natural disaster in our nation's history.
The NY Times article has insight into what was going on behind the scenes from the view of Ms.Blanco's staff and various Democratic leaders like ol' Henry Reid. Everyone was playing "cover your ass" and it makes you a little sick to realize that some of these folks were no better than the Repubs were, talking about information NOT getting out to the general public and how to screw over Georgie boy BEFORE he screwed them. For instance: Fidel Castro(yes that Fidel Castro) offered help and assistance shortly after all hell broke loose in Na'lins. For some reason Mr. Mann, the communications director, said and I quote;"We cannot let this get out," regarding Castro's offer of assistance. Why the fuck does it matter that Fidel offered help? I think its great that he offered our country, his chief nemisis, help. It shows a compassion that was lacking in our VERY OWN President. I am not a supporter or hater of Fidel but I think the man showed more interest in this disaster than Bush and his cronies.

How in the blue hell can "they" get away with this shit?
The FBI..which I usually say stands for "Fucking Bunch of Idiots" planted a fake candidate..YES sportsfans..some jackass that got caught doing something illegal agreed to run for office. The sting was in West by god Virginia. Those poor folks were duped into believing that Thomas Esposito was a real candidate for the State Legislature. He raised money, ran ads, did all the normal politico things until a month before the election. Then said his mother in law was "sick" and dropped out. That in and of itself should of been a dead giveaway..the mother in law..but that just goes to show how lame they think..
They were attempting to entrap folks into election fraud specifically vote buying. It worked!! Of course it did..when you set people up to fail..there will always be those that do..its in the odds..
My problem is..not that it was sneaky and underhanded way to bust folks..it was the people that actually wanted to elect the guy..they believed in him for gods sake..to me its so fucked up to pull that on the citizens of West VA. Its total fucking bullshit to screw with peoples minds and beliefs all to entrap a couple of dumbass's for a white collar crime that will be plead down and if ANY jailtime is issued, it will be served in some federal country club pen. A total of 2,175 people voted for Esposito. Will they ever feel comfortable voting again? Do they feel duped and stupid for buying into this fake candidacy?

50 years ago today.
Rosa Parks stood up for what she believed. She changed the course of history, beginning the end of segregation. Thank you Mrs. Parks. Jackie Robinson had already started his journey as the first black baseball player, but he had the support of the baseball teams management. Mrs. Parks had no one's backing but the NAACP and that was after the fact. This small women changed our country in one brief shining moment by making her stand against tyranny and bigotry.
We all need to remember her today, If only for a brief moment. We need to remember that all it takes is one person standing up for what they believe and things can begin to change for the better. She showed us that.
