Coretta Scott King passes.

She died peacefully in her sleep. She was 78 this woman that carried MLK's torch after he was slain. She married him in 1953 and I'm thinking she really didnt know what she was getting into. Perhaps she did, but in any case...she did him proud to the end. When MLK was asassinated in 1968, she was left to raise four children and fight for his causes he loved so dearly. She fought for over a decade to have his birthday declared a national holiday. She in 1969, founded the multimillion-dollar Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change.

If you believe in the here-after as I do..she's with him now and forever more.

It's over..the Dems stunk up the place.

Alito will be confirmed tomorrow. The Dems and Progressives refused to support a filibuster.

The lone Repub voting against Alito from an MSNBC article :Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island. He refused to support the filibuster but stated he would vote against Alito's confirmation tomorrow.

Progressive voters need to remember who refused to support the filibuster when they are in the voting booth.

Newsweek tells all about who fought the wiretapping from the inside.

The boyz in Cheney's office were the pricks and dicks. They pushed for the spying on American citizens according to a Newsweek article to publish this week. The whole sordid mess can be read here. The article is entitled: Palace Revolt. Very appropriate dont you think?

The legal minds fighting for truth and justice were appointees, not career feds according to the article. Two names are highlighted: former assistant Attorney General Jack Goldsmith, who left in 2004 and James Comey, deputy Attorny General, who resigned last summer. Both men have gone back into private life and refuse to discuss what took place behind closed doors. Both men shun the press. The information has been gathered from people still working in the Whitehouse apparently, but of course they speak from behind a cloak of secrecy, ever fearful of retribution by the Shrub..or worse..Cheney and his goon David Addington.

These men also fought against torturing prisoners. But to no avail..

Comey btw..is the one that appointed Patrick Fitzgerald...ain't that a hoot!

I highly suggest reading the entire article..it gives insight to the internal back-biting and fighting between the AG's office, the DOJ, the Office of Legal Counsel and Cheney's main henchman David Addington.

Addington comes off as the Prick he really is. The Shrub gives nicknames to these men that are sad and disgusting. READ IT! You wont be bored sportsfans..take it from me.

CBS news skews with the truth..whats new?

I was watching the CBS News the evening this was done. I was shocked and depressed that people would be so stupid to buy into Bush's ram-rodding his right to spy on American citizens down our throats. I was amazed at over 50% of the "people" polled agreed it was ok for the Shrub to spy on us. I even blogged about it..and posted the numbers in my comments on other bloggers sites.

Now this comes out..Media Matters is a great organization, I have their "headline" box on my sidebar. They dont choose sides they just report the facts..or in this case, facts left out to skew the results..and the affect it has on the Public at large. John Roberts picked certain pieces of a CBS/NY Times Poll that backed his position up..showing We arent really so pissed off about the spying going on.....NOT!

If you read the entire POLL, you will see that when the words "fight terrorism," are removed from the question being asked the results are far from a victory for the Shrub and his cronies as Robert's led us to believe on TV that night. A direct quote from the Media Matters article: "Further, as the poll documents, "When the specific reason for the wiretapping -- to reduce the threat of terrorism" -- is omitted from the question, the number of Americans who approve of this action drops by 7 points" to 46-percent approval, with 50-percent disapproval."

I mean..if you think your neighbors think its ok for The Shrub to spy..why should you be bitching about it right? People follow the herd..not all but alot of them do. The American public in general doesnt have a clue about what is going on in Washington. They rely on others to fill them in, tell them the truth and they get it all in soundbites like John Robert's thursday night. People too busy working 10 hour days, raising a family, worrying about the mortgage..they rely on assholes like John Roberts to tell them the truth and not color it with opinions and lies and half-truths..a half-truth is a lie of omission..plain and simple.

Bullshit..pure unadulterated BULLSHIT...but it happens every day on every news show..believe it sportsfans..I am not lying to ya..but they are. Roberts is just the latest to get his dick slammed in the door.

FEMA workers screw Katrina victims again.

Sickening ain't it? People will not blink a fucking eye whilst screwing the people who survived Katrina and the taxpayers. This one is out of New Orleans, thankfully NOT Bakersfield this time. Two FEMA workers were paid 10K each to look the other way and allow a contractor, hired to feed victims,to submit grossly exaggerated claims about the amount of people that were fed. They were going to get $2500 a week from this piece of bat guano each week. Sorry bout your luck Andrew Rose and Loyd Hollman, both of Colorado..couldnt happen to a couple of nicer guys..ya fucktards.

John Kerry wants to filibuster Alito's vote and Bush's Q&A yesterday.

He hasn't made alot of noise...but now he wants to filibuster the vote on Alito..which the Repubs are trying to push through now...as in Monday or Tuesday.

It takes 41 votes to sustain a filibuster..does he have them?

Methinks he doesnt. The Democrats will just roll over and let this man into the Supreme Court.

Bush is yammering to anyone that will listen that his spying on American citizens is legal and even if its not, he needs to do it. For the good of the country and of course his favorite cause...TERRORISM. They are keeping track of all Anti-Bush activity..as witnessed by their response to the "peanut butter protest". The Fed's are attempting to make anyone that disagree's with the government appear "unamerican" and a threat to national security.

This is BULLSHIT sportsfans. Pure and simple. The government is spending millions tracking their own citizens. Where is Bin Laden? Bush has had YEARS to find him. He tore up Afganistan looking for him.

He cant find Bin Laden so he spins his wheels going after his own countrymen and women. Spin..the boys at BushCo are so damn good at spinning the bullshit. People are buying into it, the polls are showing his relentless blather is working. A quote from the Shrub during yesterdays Q&A: "I want to give you some thoughts about what I am thinking about"..WTF is that shit? HUH? He sounds like Yogi Berra for gods sake. We the people..are buying into his smokescreens even though the man sounds like a complete idiot when he speaks. Fitzpatrick needs to get moving on Plamegate, The investigation into Abramoffs group of "friends" needs to start snaring the guilty Repubs in its web. I think that is the only thing that will turn the tide. It has to be shoved down the general publics throat that this administration is corrupt. People get their "news" in 45 second soundbites each night. Give them a soundbite that will make them sit up and listen..want to know more. How many people watched that idiot yesterday? How many people sat there like I did and wondered how in the hell he made it past elementary school..or perhaps he is brain-dead from years of alcohol abuse..the answer..VERY FEW. No one takes the time to watch him. Their lives are too busy with taking care of business that directly affects them. This doesnt affect the public at large..not yet anyway. And by the time it DOES affect them..it will be too late.

The Democrats need to keep the heat on the crooked, lying Repubs. They react, not ACT. Someone needs to go on the Offensive..not always be on the Defensive. Any one of our Elected Officials needs to stand on the steps of the Capitol every single day and sound the alarm, address whatever stupid retarded comments the Shrub has made the day before. Show the people how his lack of knowledge and his apparent inability to complete a thought or sentence in public is affecting us here and abroad. He sounds like an idiot..he is a puppet for the far right and I'll be damned if he doesnt sound like one.

Someone needs to rent a set of balls and stand away the crowd of wimpering Democrats and stay on task..call out the corrupt, lying, constitution-ignoring Shrub and his band of merry men.

We have nothing to fear but fear itself. The Democrats look like a deer in headlights. They look afraid, dont they?

And I am fearful that the Shrub is winning the war of words, because the "other" side is silent and unorganized.

Postscript: Bush has nominated Noel Hillman, chief prosecutor on the Abramoff case to a federal judgeship..gee whiz..ain't that grand..and timely..Hillman quit his job as prosecutor faster than you can spit in the face of corruption.

The Peanut Butter Protest and other Terrorist activities within our borders.

I keep getting bombarded with emails from many of the leftist sites I subcribe to..truthout.org, raw story and others. They ALL have stories about which branch of our government is spying on who. Seems every branch as a "secret spy" office..the Army, the FBI, CIA, NSA, the Pentagon..god the list is endless.

This mornings emails have the following stories:

Talon, a supersecret bunch of whackjobs out of the Defense Department is targeting what they consider to be subversive groups like the Truth Project. I quote from the Truthout article here:
"Richard Hersh, of Boca Raton, Fla., director of Truth Project Inc. of Palm Beach County, told an ad hoc panel of House Democrats that his group and others in South Florida have been infiltrated and spied upon despite having no connections to terrorists.
"Agents rummaged through the trash, snooped into e-mails, packed Web sites and listened in on phone conversations," Hersh charged. "We know that address books and activist meeting lists have disappeared."
The Truth Project gained national attention when NBC News reported last month that it was described as a "credible threat" in a database of suspicious activity compiled by the Pentagon's Talon program. The listing cited the group's gathering a year ago at a Quaker meeting house in Lake Worth, Fla., to talk about ways to counter military recruitment at high schools."
---THESE FOLKS ARE NOT TERRORISTS. THEIR ONLY CRIME IS DISAGREEING WITH THE BUSH REGIME. Last time I checked it is NOT illegal to disagree or dissent. Has that changed? Why is OUR government spending OUR tax dollars spying on US simply because we disagree with their mostly illegal and immoral tactics and policies?

The next one that gave me an Excedrin Headache was the one from, again Truthout.org regarding the Pentagons little bunch of fucktards. They got their panties in a wad over 10..count em 10 protesters that showed up at Halliburton with signs and ......I love this part..peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the workers leaving the office at quitting time. Their point was that Halliburton is making a shit-load of money off the war and yet offering sub-par equipment and goods. According the the protest organizer Scott Parker, its was "street theater". The Pentagon didnt see it this way..a quote from the article: "To U.S. Army analysts at the top-secret Counterintelligence Field Activity (CIFA), the peanut-butter protest was regarded as a potential threat to national security. Created three years ago by the Defense Department, CIFA's role is "force protection" - tracking threats and terrorist plots against military installations and personnel inside the United States. In May 2003, Paul Wolfowitz, then deputy Defense secretary, authorized a fact-gathering operation code-named TALON - short for Threat and Local Observation Notice - that would collect "raw information" about "suspicious incidents." The data would be fed to CIFA to help the Pentagon's "terrorism threat warning process," according to an internal Pentagon memo." How nice..Talon and CIFA work together.

Let me get this straight..the "peanut butter protest" held at Halliburton, a privately owned company was seen as a threat to National Security.ARE THEY NUCKING FUTS? Are they THAT paranoid?

The answer to both questions is an unequivocal YES..sad but true sportsfans. This makes Richard Milhouse Nixon look tame by comparison. The only people I can think of that are MORE paranoid than our Federal Government...crackheads and cocaine addicts. What a nice comparison dont you think?

Gil Scott Heron said it best..The Revolution will not be televised.

This song by aforementioned Gill Scott Heron has been running through my head since all the shit broke about the eavesdropping by the Shrub. His site is here. It was written during the Nixon era..need I say more? I just wanted to make it more timely..my additions are in red.

You will not be able to stay home, brother.
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out.
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip,
Skip out for beer during commercials,
Because the revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought to you by Halliburton
In 4 parts without commercial interruptions.
The revolution will not show you pictures of Bush blowing a bugle and leading a charge by Dick Cheney, The NSA and Karl Rove
to eat hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary.
The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought to you by the FOX News Corp. and will not star Bill O'Reilly and Condoleeza Rice or Pat Robertson.
The revolution will not give your mouth sex appeal.
The revolution will not get rid of the nubs.
The revolution will not make you look five poundsthinner,
because the revolution will not be televised, Brother.
There will be no pictures of you and Aunt Mary talking on the phone
and saying the words "bomb" and "Al Queda" in the same sentence thus getting the Pentagon listening to your every convo for two weeks straight.
NBC will not be able predict the winner at 8:32
or report from 29 districts.
The revolution will not be televised.
There will be no pictures of the FBI raiding your house
and taking your computer with them
to see who and what you have been up to
simply because you google'd the words "pipe bomb".
There will be no pictures of Valerie Plame's life being forever wrecked
because her husband told the truth
when Bush didnt about nuclear yellow cake moving into Iraq.
There will be no slow motion or still life of Cindy Sheehan sitting in a ditch
waiting to talk to the President
about why her son had to go to Iraq and die for no good reason.
Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Hooterville Junction will no longer be so damned relevant,
and women will not care if Dick finally gets down with Jane on Search for Tomorrow
because Pissed off people will be in the street looking for return of thier rights taken by Bush and his cronies in the name of terrorism.
The revolution will not be televised.
There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock news
and no pictures of hairy armed women liberationists
and Alito's wife crying and blowing her nose.
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb,Francis Scott Key,
nor sung by Tracy Lawrence, or any other country artists that haven't got a clue about whats going on in their country, they just always badmouth the Left as puppets for the Bush Regime.
The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be right back after a message
about a white tornado, white lightning, or white people.
You will not have to worry about a dove in your bedroom,
a tiger in your tank,
or the giant in your toilet bowl.
The revolution will not go better with Coke.
The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.
The revolution will put you in the driver's seat.
The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised,
will not be televised, will not be televised.
The revolution will be no re-run brothers;
The revolution will be live.

A "Leftwingnutjob" Editorial

I wrote this on another persons blog in response to another bloggers comment about how its ok for the Shrub to eavesdrop on American citizens:

We should vote on giving up freedoms..Bush is NOT a dictator that can pick and choose which constitutional amendments to honor or ignore.

If its not voted on by the people, then our duly elected officials get to do it. AND THEY DIDNT on the wiretapping exercise. BushCo is required by law to inform certain heads of Congress known as the Gang of 4 and the Gang of 8, when he undertakes spying on his OWN people..

We arent talking about listening in on Al Queda calls..we are talking about Aunt Mary saying the word bomb and Al Queda in the same sentence and bells and whistles go off somewhere at the Pentagon and half a dozen people spend the next week of their life listening to every single phone call Aunt Mary makes..and all the old bag talks about is her cherry pies shes making..

Its not only a waste of money..its illegal..

Google tells the Feds to F-off

Seems the Shrub is attempting to shake down Google for info on who is looking for what on the Google search engines. An article on Yahoo states the Fed's wanted info on child pornography seekers. Now, everyone wants to tar and feather child porn freaks, but who's to say they wouldnt use the info they gather to go after other types of folks..oh say..leftwing nutjobs and the like.

A write up in a St. Louis paper on this subject states the Feds already hit up Microsoft and Yahoo, who caved in to the demands and handed over info. Guess I won't use their search engines anymore...

Beth Givens, director of the nonprofit Privacy Rights Clearinghouse in San Diego, California said and I quote from the Yahoo article: "These search engines are a very tempting target for government and law enforcement,Look at the millions of people who use search engines without thinking of the potential to be drawn into a government drag net."

No shit Beth..no shit.

The Dem's don't have any nads, but the ACLU does thank god.

Those standup folks over at the ACLU and the Center for Constitutional Rights have filed suit today in Federal court to halt the Shrubs eavesdropping on American citizens. The suits were filed in Detroit and NYC. The Detroit suit, which also names the NSA, was filed by the ACLU, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Greenpeace and several individuals. The NYC suit names Bush, the head of the National Security Agency, and the heads of the other major security agencies, challenging the NSA's surveillance of persons within the United States without judicial approval or statutory authorization.

Why can't the damn Democrats rally around this? Why cant they take the bullshit by the horns and start Impeachment proceedings?

Your guess is as good as mine. The link to the Yahoo article is here.

postscript: I like this quote from ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero:"President Bush may believe he can authorize spying on Americans without judicial or Congressional approval, but this program is illegal and we intend to put a stop to it,The current surveillance of Americans is a chilling assertion of presidential power that has not been seen since the days of Richard Nixon."

And we ALL know what happened to Nixon.

Truthout has a nice "wrap up" including links to the ACLU doc's here. Talk Left does as well.

"ID" class is cancelled in Frazier Park highschool.

Part of my county, Kern county, lies in the mountains between the San Joaquin Valley and the San Fernando Valley. Frazier Park is a tiny community in those mountains. The local highschool there attempted to institute a class on Intelligent Design by thinly veiling it as a "Philosophy" class. Bullshit I say..and evidently so did a bunch of parents. They took on the School board and by god..lol..i love that pun..THEY defeated the religious right that tried to implement their religion into public schools..The teacher had no background to teach a Philosophy class. BUT SHE WAS THE WIFE OF A LOCAL PREACHER.

Those upstanding parents filed suit, and the school district brethren got a lil nervous..they tried to "work it out"..the parents weren't buying their bullshit..they didnt back off..and today..the school tossed in the towel.

Kudos to those Parents today..they made me proud to live in this stronghold of Republicans who have been ruling the roost far too long. A link to the Yahoo story is here.

Deploying Soldiers ordered to leave body armour behind.

This story comes straight from Soldiers for the Truth and Nathaniel Helms. Several of the Army's soldiers are told to leave their personally procured body armor at home or face consequences such as: Losing their life insurance benefits and disciplinary actions from the Army. The soldiers wish to remain anonymous for obvious reasons..our Army would retaliate against them I am sure. These soldiers are deploying for combat. Yet our government, who still refuses to equip them with life-saving armor among other things, refuses to let them protect themselves.

The soldiers purchased a specific type of body armor, Dragon Skin. The Army is using what many consider to be inferior armor called Interceptor OTV.

This story is so disgusting on many levels..its pathetic to keep our soldiers from protecting themselves, much less threatening them with disciplinary action. The entire article is a good read and can be found here.

Tell me that Jackass didn't really say that..

It has been a long day. I worked my tired ol ass off. Not that I do that every day, but hell I have been sick with a nasty cold that..well, lets move on..

Then, I read about the Shrub's visit to Na'lins today. I read the article twice. I figured there was a slim chance the meds I was taking affected my eyesight.

Nope...he said it. ALL of it. He couldnt even visit the stricken areas of the city of New Orleans. He kept his worthless behind in one of the LEAST affected areas, the Garden District, which is an upscale part of town I might add...but I digress.

He said and I quote from a NY Times article: "for folks around the country who are looking for a great place to have a convention, or a great place to visit, I'd suggest coming here to the great New Orleans."

Correct me IF I AM WRONG BUT..isn't the Superdome still a fucking shithole of a mess that won't be fixed till GOD knows when?

I also saw this quote in the article from the Shrub: "a heck of a place to bring your family" and that it had "some of the greatest food in the world and some wonderful fun."

Yes...most certainly bring the kids. Jesus Christ in a thong..wtf is that man thinking? Bring the kids to see what? Desolate neighborhoods that no one can live in yet, unless its in a trailer next door to what used to be a house? Its hard to tell if its a house actually..its usually just a pile of rubble, waiting for someone to come along w/a bulldozer and carry it all off. And yes, the restaurants are trying to reopen..if THEY CAN FIND WORKERS. Which last I heard they are begging nationwide and promising a salary PLUS room and board just to be waiters or waitresses. The streets of the tourist district are still FAR from "vacationer" ready ya nimrod.

His limo drove past some of the devasted neighborhoods..quickly I might add. Wonder where he was in such a fucking hurry to get to...oh yeah..Palm Beach..for a "closed-door $4 million fund-raiser for the Republican National Committee and Republican candidates at the home of Dwight Schar, a homebuilder and a co-owner of the Washington Redskins."

I only touched on a few lowspots of the Shrubs visit. If you really want to get your blood boiling, you gotta read the whole article..which you can find here.

The "I" word getting a major workout these days :)

I mean the word "Impeachment"..Indict is also an "I" word that I love but lets examine Impeachment here.

Attorney Elizabeth Holtzman served 4 terms in Congress and was on the Judiciary Commitee that took Tricky Dick (nixon, not cheney)down. She has written an article for The Nation which is showcased on their frontpage this fine day. She lays out the reasons for impeaching the Shrub and why they are viable reasons. Its a good read, and if you have the time check it out. The link to her article is here.

Like she states and I have mentioned on many occasions..Impeachment is NOT being whispered anymore..its seeing the light of day. I pray for this daily..if praying for such a thing is wrong..i do not care. People need to take this seriously..the Democrats need to get off their pompous arse's and start doing something about it. People need to scream it from the top of buildings, in their offices, from their front porches..people need to get with the program here and use the "I" word every day of every week till its done.

Like that wonderful movie "Network"s main character Howard Beale stated so eloquently in 1976.."I am mad as hell and not going to take it anymore". We need someone to start the ball rolling like that crazy sumbitch Beale did..come to think of it..that movie makes alot of sense NOW..it was all about the news media and its lack of conscience.Sound familiar?

It was on this day Jan. 12, 1915..

the good 'ol boyz voted against giving women the right to vote..yessir..by a vote of 174 to 204, they said NO to we, of the female gender, having the right to vote.

I find it entertaining that Alito is being grilled on this very day. Its not really funny..just ironic.

Abramoff cries crocodile tears.

The NY Times has an article which seems to be a pity party for Jackie A. I feel no pity for this man who referred to some of his clients as "apes" among other things. He lives in a fine house in one of Maryland's best neighborhoods. He will get to keep that house I am sure, although I believe he should be made to sell it to pay his $25 million debt to the Indian tribes he screwed over. In his address to the court and publicly, he feigned remorse for his actions, but privately he still believes he did nothing wrong, stating it was business as usual for Washington players like himself.

Jackie's daddy made this comment, according the the article: "I don't understand the situation that's engulfed our family," Frank Abramoff said. "My son is a religious person, a charitable-minded person. He's worked hard all his life and never asked for anything, and now for this to happen."

Are you just stupid or mentally-challenged Frank Abramoff? Are you so clueless to what your son did that you can ignore the facts of this investigation? I can not read Frank Abramoff's remark without getting sick to my stomach. Jackie A was a blight on society, he took advantange of people for his own financial gain and that of his Republican friends.

It was written that Jackie A carried Torah readings with him when he made his guilty pleas last week in Washington and Florida. After the courts are done doling out justice to him, God will eventually have his shot. I don't know how God deals with people like Jackie. But I hope its the same as child molesters and cold blooded killers. Jackie A deserves no mercy from God..or the legal system.

But I will bet my life that he gets mercy from both. And thats just plain wrong in my book.

Fed's focusing on 2nd Lobby Group tied to DeLay

I was happy to find in my inbox this evening tomorrow's NY Times. It contains an article by Anne Kornblut and Glen Justice entitled: Officials Focus on a 2nd Firm Tied to DeLay

The lobbying firm, Alexander Strategy Group, is run by Edwin A. Buckham. Eddie was the former Chief of Staff for none other than...Tom DeLay! Eddie has also provided lots of jobs to former DeLay staffers..such a nice man eh?

Alexander Strategy openly boasted that it had ties to Delay and access to him. Alexander Strategy paid Mr. DeLay's wife $115,000 in consulting fees while conducting business with Mr. Abramoff's firm. Mr. Abramoff also referred clients to Mr. Buckham. They also shared clients between them...one of the clients was..the Choctaw Indian tribe in Mississippi. You know them..they were one of the tribes frauded out of millions by Jackie A.

Another tie is to Randy "Duke" Cunningham..that dirty Cali Repub Representative that has finally pled guilty to taking millions of dollars from Defense contractors, one of which is a client of Alexander Strategy.

An excerpt from the article regarding Alexander Strategy and the infamous "K St. Project: "For years, Alexander Strategy was one of the crown jewels of the so-called K Street project, an effort Republicans began after taking control of Congress in 1994 to dominate the lobbying industry. The hope, exemplified by Mr. Buckham's company, was for Republican lobbyists to harness the power of their corporate clients to help keep the party in power for years to come."

It gets better..Eddie also ran one of Tommy's "grass roots" organizations, the lovely U.S. Family Network. According to an article by the Washington Post's R. Jeffrey Smith, this organization was funded almost exclusively by Abramoffs clients and associates. According to the Post article: "During its five-year existence, the U.S. Family Network raised $2.5 million but kept its donor list secret." The Washington Post article also goes on to say this: "Two former associates of Edwin A. Buckham said Buckham told them the funds($1 million LARGE) came from Russian oil and gas executives. Abramoff had been working closely with two such Russian energy executives on their Washington agenda, and the lobbyist and Buckham had helped organize a 1997 Moscow visit by DeLay (R-Tex.)."

There is a lovely quote in the Times article by Dick Armey, the former House Majority Leader that butted heads frequently with Tommy DeLay: "Tom DeLay sent Buckham downtown to set up shop and start a branch office on K Street," Mr. Armey said. "The whole idea was, 'What's in it for us?' That's what I thought at the time, and I've seen nothing in the way they've conducted themselves since then to dissuade me from that point of view."

I agree with Mr. Armeys assessment of Tommy and Eddie..do you? Check out both articles if its a slow sunday at your house..it is at mine, there are only two football games and I am still under the influence of a nasty-ass cold.

Tommy Boy Delay throws in the towel.

This just in..Delay is giving up his quest to return to power as the House Majority Leader.

Truthout discuss's the story here. AP breaks the story here.

IF your going to send our citizens over there..at least equip them to survive!

Many people and articles have stated this fact: Our service men and women are NOT getting the tools they need to survive. I am talking about Body Armor. Those fucktards running the show still are not supplying our citizens with the one piece of equipment that can save their lives, larger armor plates which btw..HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE 2003.

The Pentagon, that sterling bunch of stand-up folks, did a secret study(no shit, a secret study out of the Pentagon?)and found that as many as 80 percent of the marines who have been killed in Iraq from wounds to the upper body could have survived if they had been supplied with extra body armor. Our soldiers are buying armor THEMSELVES or having family members purchase it for them. Our soldiers are hanging "crotch plates" under their arms to stay alive.

It's business as usual over at the Pentagon..they must do studies, they must figure out who to award the contracts to, they fight among themselves on who gets the stuff first(the Army vs. the Marines here)and finally that time-honored tradition: The supplier cant build it correctly OR on-time.

During the first and second world wars, even the Vietnam war to some degree..manufacturing was geared to provide products and services ASAP. Its our sons and daughters over there, our future statesmen and women, our future PERIOD. If OUR gov't is going to keep them over there, they need to provide our service personnel with the gear they need to survive. Its very simple really..do what needs to be done to protect them, they are NOT expendable.

A link to a NY Times article on this mess is here.

Jan 6, 2006

They came, they listened..they silently tossed their collective cookies..

The NY Times has a nice writeup by David E. Sanger of Bush's meeting of the minds past and present..In attendance were: Colin Powell, Madeline Albright, Robert S. McNamara, Melvin R. Laird and James R. Schlesinger among others.

Bushie jumped on Madeline with BOTH feet when she said, and I quote from the article:"asked President Bush whether, with the war "taking up all the energy" of his foreign policy team, he had let the nuclear programs in Iran and North Korea spin out of control and allowed Latin America and China policy suffer by neglect. " The shrub responded with the following:"I can't let this comment stand," Mr. Bush shot back, telling Ms. Albright and the rare assembly of her colleagues, who reached back to the Kennedy White House, that his administration "can do more than one thing at a time." The Bush administration, he insisted, had "the best relations of any country with Japan, China and Korea," and had active programs to make alliances around the world."

Colin Powell didnt say a WORD during the little get-together..by little I mean a whole 5 to 10 minutes for discussion with the group that included alot of braintrusts from former administrations. Bush is an idiot..pure and simple, refusing to take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to confer with some of the people that molded this country. After the 10 minutes he ushered them all into the Oval office for a photo op. Bush had the nads to call it a "family picture".

If anyone wanted to actually say something of merit, they were herded across the hall to speak to some underlings..Shrub,Rummy, Condi and Cheney split..seriously..they left as quick as their feet could get them the hell out of there.

The man never ceases to amaze me..his ignornance and stupidity top the charts sportsfans..

He's the wrong choice for the highest court in the land. You can write a short letter to your Senators and deliver it online just by going here:http://www.political.moveon.org/alitoletters

Thanks!

Feds awarding most rebuilding contracts to big companies outside the affected states.

As I half-assed watched the CBS evening news last night, I saw a small soundbite piece on all the contracts for rebuilding Mississippi..they are going to big corporations outside the affected states including one that I believe they said was a subsidiary of Halliburton.

I dug around on the internet shortly after the show ended looking for a written piece on this news. I found nothing including the CBS Evening News site..the assholes had nothing on it.

I looked again tonight and found a couple articles regarding the situation. Yes, the Army Corp of Engineers and those lovely folks over at FEMA control over 60 BILLION of the Federal money earmarked for rebuilding Mississippi and Louisiana.YES, those assclowns are awarding all if not most of the contracts to big companies outside both states. The corps has been criticized for allowing out-of-state companies to do debris removal that business and political leaders say Mississippi firms should be doing. Its largest contract has gone to Pompano Beach, Fla.-based AshBritt Inc. This creates a wonderful situation that trickles down to the the local contractors in small teensy subcontracts. An excerpt from a Times-Picayune article:

"The blue-tarp roof, a symbol of hurricane damage in south Louisiana and Mississippi as recognizable as curbside debris, may wind up as a post-Katrina emblem of government waste reminiscent of the Pentagon's fabled $435 hammers and $640 toilet seats.
Depending on the extent of damage and the size of the roof, the federal government is paying anywhere from a few hundred dollars to $5,000 to install a typical tarp. The cost to taxpayers to tack up a covering of blue vinyl is roughly the same, on a per-square-foot basis, as what a homeowner would pay to install a basic asphalt-shingle roof.
Yet the laborer putting nail to tarp typically earns only a fraction of that. The cost is driven up by layers of subcontractors, an expensive flowchart that sometimes produces the sub-sub-sub-sub-subcontractor, known in post-Katrina parlance as a "fifth-tier sub."
The arrangement isn't unique to roofing. On almost any contract let by either the Federal Emergency Management Agency or the Army Corps of Engineers, who together control most of the more than $60 billion earmarked by Congress for hurricane aid, a similar system of tiering exists. Nor are such contractual layers indigenous to a universe shattered by Katrina and Rita. Those involved in the work say similar arrangements are commonplace after natural disasters throughout the United States.

In other words, the guy spinning a Bobcat choked with tree limbs on a residential street may be earning as little as $1 per cubic yard of debris, although the prime contractor may be billing 20 times that amount for the service. "

Sorry but I find this to be total bullshit spending in an area that already is getting hosed. Its as the article states..another "emblem of government waste reminiscent of the Pentagon's fabled $435 hammers and $640 toilet seats. "

Bush and his cronies..they are still fucking the victims of hurricane Katrina...and the taxpayers, whilst the rich get richer.

The past year as seen from my pov.

I became a blogger in '05, at first just the fluffy kinda blog, which I still keep up. But then I started reading the political blogs. Karen Zipdrive's blog , a funny, intelligent, right-on-the-fucking-money Texan was the one that woke me up politically and I love her, read her blog(daily if not hourly sometimes) and forever will be in her debt for putting a foot in my ass and getting me pissed off enough to do something other than bitch about our government.

I left the chat rooms and found more intelligent life and "friends" in Bloggers like Enigma, FC, JimBob, Mileah , Joel and dear, sweet Kate. This blog was created as a political outlet, waking up that indignation I had lost many years ago when I became apathetic and unmotivated.

I rediscovered my right to dissent against an oppressive government. I became politically active again and now have a life outside this box we call the Internet. My newfound "politicalness" has given me an outlet that I have craved since leaving San Diego and moving to this hell-hole known as Bakersfield. I now go to city counsel and board of supervisors meetings, standing up and speaking my mind,I email and chastise them..tossing facts and figures to a bunch of ol codgers with their own agendas who were elected to their offices by the "good ol boy" network here... but its changing a little bit every day. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to implement the California Compassionate Use Act last week after draggin their heels for years. I helped organize a political event that made the evening news, and I saw my mug on three of the four local TV stations plus the local newspaper reading the names of the Californians killed in Iraq. I have made local contacts and acquaintances with others that believe as I do here in this Republican stronghold known as the San Joaquin Valley. I am an active member of MoveOn.org and the Democractic party(I am registered Independant)...I evidently love this "red" county inspite of its rightwing attitude. It is a beautiful part of one of the most agricultural areas in the state. I want to see it stay that way.

Enough about moi..now on to the shit that changed and/or affected America:

Katrina and its devastation. The governments lack of response to an area that is mostly poor, black AND served no purpose to Bush's junta and long list of Republican cronies. The dying and suffering that took place affected me like nothing since 9-11. The agencies put in place to serve the american public when such things happen abandoned their people until the cries were so loud they had to respond...and they even fucked that up.

The war in Iraq. Over 2100 Americans have been killed and tens of thousands of Iraqi's have died as well. There is no light at the end of this tunnel yet..but the left continues to fight against Bush's tyrannical evilness in a war that smells more and more like Vietnam. The "I" word is now being tossed around and I could not be happier. Bush is so full of lies and bullshit Nixon's wiretapping pales by comparison. No WMD's, no uranium, nothing but oil there boys and girls..

Speaking of Bush...his "lil friend" and Cheney's main man Scooter Libby was the first among hopefully many indicted by Fitzpatrick for lying about Plame-gate. Going after a man's wife when he pisses you off is so screwed up. Tom DeLay, Jack Abramoff, Bill Frist, and too many others to mention that are in trouble for lying, cheating and generally screwing with the public trust known as government. Stay tuned folks.. this mess is far from over and should only get better in the coming new year.

FEMA's main man Michael Brown is finally exposed for what he is: a rich kid that cant find his ass with both hands, but he sure wants to look good on TV...and he worries about his dog WAY too much to the detrement of all the dying and suffering people in New Orleans. Most of Bush's appointees fall into the same boat of incompetence dont ya know?

Enron, Tyco, Worldcom and countless other executives finally get busted, charged and tried in our courts for syphoning off millions of dollars for their own personal greed.

The world of sports, my favorite world btw... had its share of newsworthy items: steroids, T.O., the NHL took the YEAR off, the Yanks DID NOT win their 27th World Series but the Chicago Whitesox did win their second since 1917,and finally..the worst..MY Padres won their division with a winning record that was one game over .500... they were promptly sent to the showers in 4 straight by the Cards.

And there is a brief look at what I found to be important..not all by any means..but the biggies..

Happy New Year to my two readers and lets hope the "I"word (impeach and indict) gets a huge workout this coming year :)
