The lovely folks over at Parenthetical Remarks tagged my lazy ass. I don't read many books as I have aged. Most of them were read in my formative years. But I will give it a whirl..god help ya'all..
A book that changed my life-Soul on Ice by Elderidge Cleaver. I was appalled at first and then I gradually saw where he was coming from. I realized for the first time how racism works in the mind of the oppressed and the oppressors.
A book I've read more than once-The Port Huron Statement(really not a book, more of a ..um..statement or manefesto). I am pissed that I loaned someone my original copy and never got it back..bitch,you know who you are. This book is as timely today as it was in the 60's & 70's. Damn shame too.
A book I would take with me if I were stuck on a desert island-Boxed set of Tom Robbins books
A book that made me laugh-Another Roadside Attraction by Tom Robbins
A book that made me cry-Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen
A book that I wish had been written-"What you fundi's missed about Jesus's message of love and tolerance"-All religious fundi's just don't fucking get it and the bastards never will.
A book I wish had never been written-None..all books give us information, if only about the author and his mind. No book should be censored.
A book I've been meaning to read-American Theocracy by Kevin Phillips
I'm currently reading-Nothing currently :( my attention span is quite short with my physical injuries and I like to read from cover to cover when at all possible.
People to tag for this exercise, although I understand if they blow it off:
Peacechick Mary
Pissed-off Patricia
Elizabeth Branford-Lily

And now back to our regularly scheduled rants and raves....
