There is a 4 part series up by the LAT regarding the affects of Uranium mining by the US decades ago. In part 1, the subject is the discovery of the radiation problems created by the world's richest uranium deposits, in a reservation spanning parts of Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.
Part 2 covers the effects that contaminated groundwater have on the animal and human life that uses the lakes and ponds for drinking water.
Part 3 deals with the contamination and how the government promises safety and a clean up but can not or will not deliver it.
Part 4 shows that since Uranium is now needed for weapons and other killing machines, Mining companies want to plunder the booty again. The Indians don't see things the same way and in reality..can you blame them?
