As you read Bart Stupak boasting of taking reproductive choice away from women, remember that he’s not just an otherwise good Democrat (he’s not, in fact, a Blue Dog) who consistently lets the agenda of the Catholic Church override the well-being of his constituents, he’s also one of C-Street’s top Democratic members. This man, crowing over his legislative success is speaking as a representative of a group that preaches moral purity for others, but excuses itself from such moral guidelines with a back-slapping prayer lunch with the buddies. And then turns around and uses that moralizing to accrue political power.What a dirtbag. That this fucking asshole can stand and brag about denying women a legal medical procedure makes me physically ill.
We can only hope that when the conference meeting between the Senate and House members takes place...his fucking prehistoric amendment will be dropped like a hot rock.

The Blue Dog Rep from my old district (NC-11), Heath Shuler, is also a C Street resident -- and one of the Infamous who voted against the Health Care bill.
Think that's bad? I just checked my adress (via Michael Moore's site), and discovered that my representatives are all Republicans, and the most reasonable of them is planning to leave office and run for governor, and so isnt interested in looking even remotely liberal right now. I'm screwed, "representative"-wise.
i posted awhile ago that the rethugs were making inroads infiltrating the dem party. another big reason i left it. the dem party that is...or are they really that much different anymore?

i watched some of the speeches and i was floored. as if the christian fundies weren't bad enough, now they're joined by democratic papal caucus. do they think the constitution says they are accountable to the bishops instead of their constituents?
