From our dept of WTF?

Trashcan Annie and the WND dipshit, Joey Farah, are fighting it out publicly?
Both of these toiletbowl turds are as useful as tits on a bullfrog...so why so much press for them both on the topic of gays and party affiliation? From the TPM link:
This story is just begging for some sarcastic 'strange bedfellows' remark.

Last week World Net Daily made headlines after it announced it was dropping Ann Coulter at the keynote speaker at their "Taking Back America" conference following news that she would be headlining GOProud's Homocon 2010. WND CEO Joseph Farah expressed 'concern' that by appearing she was supporting the idea that "that sodomy is just an alternate lifestyle."

Ann Coulter responded in typical Coulter fashion by calling Farah variously as "swine" and a "publicity whore" and later called WND "fake Christians."

Caught up? The latest development, according to the Daily Caller, is that Farah has taken to radio shows hosted by gay personalities to further skewer Coulter.
First, if folks in the LGBT community want to follow the republican way...it's their right..but personally, my pov is this.. why in the fuck would you support a group that goes out of their way to bash you and create laws that make you an outcast in our society and deny you civil rights?

Second, that Trashcan Annie suddenly supports the LGBT agenda is suspect in and of itself. The cunt has done nothing but bash gays and lesbians, not to mention her second favorite negative-connotation word is fag and it's various derivatives.

Finally, who the fuck gives a rat's ass what Joe Farah thinks or says and why in the blue hell would any show, that supports the LGBT agenda, have this fuckwit on and give him a soapbox to bash gays and lesbians?

Sigh...I am so confused...

Iowa Supreme Court overturns gay marriage ban!

I shit you not m'dear reader....an Iowa court ruled that the state ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional. The state Supreme Court ruled the marriage ban violates the rights of homosexuals. And it was UNANIMOUS! From MSNBC:
The Iowa Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling Friday finding that the state's same-sex marriage ban violates the constitutional rights of gay and lesbian couples, making Iowa the third state where gay marriage is legal.

In its decision, the court upheld a 2007 district court judge's ruling that the law violates the state constitution. It strikes the language from Iowa code limiting marriage to only between a man a woman.

"The court reaffirmed that a statute inconsistent with the Iowa constitution must be declared void even though it may be supported by strong and deep-seated traditional beliefs and popular opinion," said a summary of the ruling issued by the court.

What a great way to kick off the weekend...celebrating another victory for the rights of the LGBT community in freaking Iowa! ;) You can read the ruling here.

This surely didn't sit well with Bush and the usual suspects.

Mukasey Recognizes Contribution of Gay Justice Department Employees at DOJ Pride Awards Ceremony. From the BLT:

About 150 people gathered at Main Justice’s Great Hall today for the annual awards ceremony of a Department of Justice group representing gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and trans-gendered employees. For the first time in six years, DOJ Pride was allowed to use the hall.

Under Attorneys General John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonzales, the group had not been permitted to meet in the Great Hall or to use government computers to communicate with its members.

Kudos to Mukasey on this issue. He said at the ceremony:

"Because all Justice Department employees have the right to be proud of who they are and the work that they do here."

Amen Mr. AG.

Bakersfield's first gay marriages!

The Reddest County in Cali had major events today. Even though that disgusting woman, who shall remain nameless, tried to keep the gays and lesbians from being married at Bakersfield's government center...it happened anyway ya fucking homophobes!!! Tell all those theocratic assholes to sit down and shut the fuck up...the world did not come to an end.

Several sweet religious folk came downtown this morning bright and early to make sure the happy couples were still married at City Hall..or in this case..County Hall..They also DID NOT charge for their services!! Bless them. :) One of our local tv stations was broadcasting the event live..I heart channel 7.

What follows are a few of the lucky couples that took the plunge. I hope they are happy and finally get what they have richly deserved for a hundred or more years..to be just as miserable as the rest of us 'married folks'. ;)

All pictures are filched from Bakersfield.com..the website for our local rag, the Bakersfield Californian.

First Couple to get their license: The lovely Lori Renee and Whitney Weddell. They are all smiles! Bless them for waiting so long.

Next up is Rev. Byrd Tetzlaff, as she officiates the first marriage ceremony between Kathi Gose and Karen Briefer.

next we have Amelia Cravens helping Shelby Himes with her wedding dress train..before they marry each other. :)

Whitney and Lori has they kiss each other for the first time as a married couple..ah the joy, the love, the all is right with the world feel of it!
so there you have it..Kern fucking County did not get swallowed up into the nether world because some gay folks got married on the steps of the County Administration Building. Fuck all you homophobic bastards..these folks now enjoy the same rights the rest of us have had for friggin evah!

Congrats to the happy couples..some of which have been together for decades and decades..which btw is longer than I have stuck it out with any male. ;p

10 homophobic AG's weigh in.

I call them homophobic because, well....why the hell else would they get involved in Cali's legal system? Huh? Come on, do you have another reason to cite?

Also, these 10 homophobic assholes are in states that don't allow gay marriage because they have implemented laws against it. So, I rest my case. From Jurist:

Ten US state attorneys general have petitioned the Supreme Court of California to postpone implementation of its May 15 decision legalizing same-sex marriages until after state elections in November. California is slated to allow all same-sex couples, regardless of state citizenship, to wed in California, but each of the 10 petitioning states bans recognition of same-sex marriages. The attorneys general - from Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Carolina, South Dakota and Utah - wrote Thursday that if California starts issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples on June 17 as announced, many same-sex couples in their states would become "marriage tourists" in California and the states' courts would then face unfair, extensive and burdensome litigation on whether to recognize the marriages. The AGs also joined conservative Christian legal advocacy group Alliance Defense Fund's recent petition in saying that deciding the issue before California citizens vote in November on a likely proposed amendment to the California state constitution banning same-sex marriage could lead to legal havoc. Attorneys for the city and county of San Francisco have responded that a stay would mingle judicial and political processes and would deny rights based on a merely proposed state constitutional amendment. The New York Times has more. The San Francisco Chronicle has local coverage.

Recognition of California same-sex marriages is not universally opposed in other US jurisdictions. Earlier this month, one day before the California ruling, New York Governor David Paterson ordered that state agencies recognize out-of-state same-sex marriages as legal marriages in New York.

Friggin homophobes....I find this bullshit extremely unsettling. Hatred is never positive...its always negative and the rationale for this type of behavior is never ever logical.

Pentagon is homophobic? Who knew?

Seems Nan had to step in and throw her weight around in order for House Rep Tammy Baldwin's significant other to go along on a trip recently. From Politico:

The speaker succeeded, but the issue continues to simmer for both sides. The Pentagon appears to be self-conscious about transporting gay domestic partners at a time when it continues to enforce a "don't ask, don't tell" policy in its own ranks. The speaker is sensitive to the gay rights issue but doesn't want to be drawn into a situation where it appears she is dictating policy for the use of military planes.

Under House guidelines, members of Congress may take their spouses with them on military flights if there is room for them and when it is "necessary for protocol purposes." Although Baldwin, the only openly gay woman elected to Congress, exchanged wedding vows with Lauren Azar in 1998, her home state of Wisconsin does not officially recognize same-sex marriages, and military officials were apparently unwilling to consider Azar a "spouse" within the meaning of the House guidelines.

In appealing to Gates, Pelosi aides said their boss was simply asking the defense secretary to follow a precedent established by her predecessor, former Republican Rep. Dennis Hastert of Illinois. Pelosi told Gates that Hastert had allowed Baldwin to take Azar on a previous trip abroad.

Come on you homophobic bastids..Hastert was far from a gay supporter and he was cool with it. Drop the charade for Christ's sake. Give your homophobia a friggin rest.

Positive Liberty-Mildred Loving's statement.

A H/T to SteveO over at BIO for the link..From Ed Brayton's Blog:

On the 40th anniversary of the ruling in Loving v Virginia, MIldred Loving has released a public statement that really must be read. I’m going to post the full text below the fold and encourage others to distribute it far and wide, put it on Fark and Digg and Reddit and anywhere you can for the widest possible reach. Americans need to read this statement and see how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go to protect liberty and equality in this country.

Loving for All

By Mildred Loving*

Prepared for Delivery on June 12, 2007,
The 40th Anniversary of the Loving vs. Virginia Announcement

When my late husband, Richard, and I got married in Washington, DC in 1958, it wasn’t to make a political statement or start a fight. We were in love, and we wanted to be married.

We didn’t get married in Washington because we wanted to marry there. We did it there because the government wouldn’t allow us to marry back home in Virginia where we grew up, where we met, where we fell in love, and where we wanted to be together and build our family. You see, I am a woman of color and Richard was white, and at that time people believed it was okay to keep us from marrying because of their ideas of who should marry whom.

When Richard and I came back to our home in Virginia, happily married, we had no intention of battling over the law. We made a commitment to each other in our love and lives, and now had the legal commitment, called marriage, to match. Isn’t that what marriage is?

Not long after our wedding, we were awakened in the middle of the night in our own bedroom by deputy sheriffs and actually arrested for the “crime” of marrying the wrong kind of person. Our marriage certificate was hanging on the wall above the bed. The state prosecuted Richard and me, and after we were found guilty, the judge declared: “Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.” He sentenced us to a year in prison, but offered to suspend the sentence if we left our home in Virginia for 25 years exile.

We left, and got a lawyer. Richard and I had to fight, but still were not fighting for a cause. We were fighting for our love.

Though it turned out we had to fight, happily Richard and I didn’t have to fight alone. Thanks to groups like the ACLU and the NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund, and so many good people around the country willing to speak up, we took our case for the freedom to marry all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. And on June 12, 1967, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that, “The freedom to marry has long been recognized as one of the vital personal rights essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men,” a “basic civil right.”

My generation was bitterly divided over something that should have been so clear and right. The majority believed that what the judge said, that it was God’s plan to keep people apart, and that government should discriminate against people in love. But I have lived long enough now to see big changes. The older generation’s fears and prejudices have given way, and today’s young people realize that if someone loves someone they have a right to marry.

Surrounded as I am now by wonderful children and grandchildren, not a day goes by that I don’t think of Richard and our love, our right to marry, and how much it meant to me to have that freedom to marry the person precious to me, even if others thought he was the “wrong kind of person” for me to marry. I believe all Americans, no matter their race, no matter their sex, no matter their sexual orientation, should have that same freedom to marry. Government has no business imposing some people’s religious beliefs over others. Especially if it denies people’s civil rights.

I am still not a political person, but I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, black or white, young or old, gay or straight seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.

The country fixed a mess like this before, created by Theocrats..we need to fix it again. Don't let the mutha fuckas win!
