WikiLeaks gives us the truth Obama's administration won't...

WikiLeaks has struck again!! The Obama administration responded with the following from the whores at Politico:
The White House responded swiftly and sharply to publication Sunday evening of more than 91,000 secret documents painting a bleak picture of the Afghanistan war, calling the leak “irresponsible” and saying that the source – the whistleblower website WikiLeaks -- “opposes U.S. policy in Afghanistan.” WikiLeaks said its "Afghan War Diary" consists mostly of reports "written by soldiers and intelligence officers ... describing lethal military actions involving the United States military." WikiLeaks gave three news organizations – The New York Times, The (British) Guardian and Germany’s Der Spiegel – advance access to the "war logs" trove.
They oppose the Afghan War? Who the fuck doesn't? Oh boo-fucking-hoo you lying, covering-up, war mongering bastards! Meanwhile...the NYT has run an article, entitled the War Log which they explain and validate here, based on Wikileak's info. From the WikiLeak writeup:
25th July 2010 5:00 PM EST WikiLeaks has released a document set called the Afghan War Diary (AWD), an extraordinary compendium of over 91,000 reports covering the war in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2010.
The reports, while written by soldiers and intelligence officers mainly describing lethal military actions involving the United States military, also include intelligence information, reports of meetings with political figures, and related detail.

The document collection will shortly be available on a dedicated webpage
The reports cover most units from the US Army with the exception of most US Special Forces' activities. The reports do not generally cover top-secret operations or European and other ISAF Forces operations.

We have delayed the release of some 15,000 reports from the total archive as part of a harm minimization process demanded by our source. After further review, these reports will be released, with occasional redactions, and eventually, in full, as the security situation in Afghanistan permits.

The data is provided in CSV and SQL formats, sorted by months, and also was rendered into KML mapping data.

It's gonna be a doozie folks you can wade thorough it all HERE...fasten your friggin seatbelts, its gonna be a bumpy, horrendous ride. And Team Obama ain't gonna like it and neither will the Bushies. Fuck em all I say..warmongering bags of shit.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs: “Right now I’m fighting 2 wars, and I don’t need a third one…”

Crooks and Liars, those stellar bloggers of all things political and sometimes musical have a great post up about Admiral Mullens visit to Fox Noise today. From the transcript via C&L:

WALLACE: I want to ask you two questions about Iran. How do you weigh as a military man, as the top military man, the downside risk if either the U.S. or Israel were to militarily strike Iran in terms of blowback from Iran and its allies in the region, increased turmoil in that area, increased turmoil in the oil market?

MULLEN: I think it would be significant. I worry about it a lot. I’ve said when I’ve been asked this before right now I’m fighting two wars, and I don’t need a third one. […]

But I worry about the instability in that part of the world and, in fact, the possible unintended consequences of a strike like that and, in fact, having an impact throughout the region that would be difficult to both predict exactly what it would be and then the actions that we would have to take to contain it.

Everyone worries about the unintended consequences of an attack on Iran..except Bush and Cheney. Those fuckers don't give a shit what it would cause to happen..aka the blowback upon the US.

Bush plans Iran airstrike within next two months

I knew that bastard would start some shit with Iran before he left office. From Common Dreams:

NEW YORK - The George W Bush administration plans to launch an air strike against Iran within the next two months, an informed source tells Asia Times Online, echoing other reports that have surfaced in the media in the United States recently.

Two key US senators briefed on the attack planned to go public with their opposition to the move, according to the source, but their projected New York Times op-ed piece has yet to appear.

The source, a retired US career diplomat and former assistant secretary of state still active in the foreign affairs community, speaking anonymously, said last week that that the US plans an air strike against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). The air strike would target the headquarters of the IRGC's elite Quds force. With an estimated strength of up to 90,000 fighters, the Quds' stated mission is to spread Iran's revolution of 1979 throughout the region.

Targets could include IRGC garrisons in southern and southwestern Iran, near the border with Iraq. US officials have repeatedly claimed Iran is aiding Iraqi insurgents. In January 2007, US forces raided the Iranian consulate general in Erbil, Iraq, arresting five staff members, including two Iranian diplomats it held until November. Last September, the US Senate approved a resolution by a vote of 76-22 urging President George W Bush to declare the IRGC a terrorist organization. Following this non-binding "sense of the senate" resolution, the White House declared sanctions against the Quds Force as a terrorist group in October. The Bush administration has also accused Iran of pursuing a nuclear weapons program, though most intelligence analysts say the program has been abandoned.

Why is it imperative to start a "new" war with them? What will the sumbitch gain other than his contractor cronies getting richer and a bigger clusterfuck in the middle east?

Will CentCom Chief Adm Fallon be shown the door early?

Those wonderful folks over at Crooks and Liars have a great read up about CentCom Chief Adm. William Fallon. Fallon is one military mind that doesn't mince words and most certainly doesn't tow the Bushie line. How good is Admiral Fallon? Well, from the C&L writeup via a ThinkProgress article:

Defense Secretary Robert Gates has called CENTCOM commander Adm. William Fallon "one of the best strategic thinkers in uniform today." Fallon opposed the "surge" in Iraq and has consistently battled the Bush administration to avoid a confrontation with Iran, calling officials' war-mongering "not helpful." Privately, he has vowed that an attack on Iran "will not happen on my watch."

Seems Admiral Fallon might be relieved of his duty prematurely because he doesn't tow the BushCo line. Esquire Magazine has an online writeup about Adm Fallon and the possibility of him being shit-canned before his term is up. The reason? Glad you asked...

Iran and the possibility of military action.

Jesus H. Christ..this administration is determined to fuck us all before their time in office ends. By "all" I mean the entire world, because going after Iran would disrupt the oil supply not to mention cause a whole lotta problems since the world opinion is that we pretty much suck when it comes to attacking and invading sovereign nations without one ounce of provocation.

Iran stops selling oil in US Dollars..

Kudos to my Digg friend InTheNameOfMine for turning me on to this story on a cold Saturday morning. Interesting no? Short blurb below:

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran has completely stopped selling any of its oil for U.S. dollars, an Iranian news agency reported on Saturday, citing the oil minister of the world's fourth-largest crude producer.

The ISNA news agency did not give a direct quote from Oil Minister Gholamhossein Nozari. A senior oil official last month said "nearly all" of Iran's crude oil sales were now being paid for in non-U.S. currencies.

For nearly two years, OPEC's second biggest producer has been reducing its exposure to the dollar, saying the weak U.S. currency is eroding its purchasing power.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who often rails against the West, has called the U.S. currency a "worthless piece of paper."

Amadinejad isn't far off the mark about the buck being worthless..I recently blogged about the value dropping 40% since Bush took office.

In other news..Fran has a post up about the fine print in enlistment contracts..talk about bullshit on a stick..this one takes the cake..go check it out at her blog here. Fran does some great posts, that just jerk my chain..but then..she usually has a funny one after it to calm me down..thank Buddha for that ;)

Experts: No firm evidence of Iranian nuclear weapons

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
From McClatchyDC we get this gem:

Despite President Bush's claims that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons that could trigger "World War III," experts in and out of government say there's no conclusive evidence that Tehran has an active nuclear-weapons program.

Even his own administration appears divided about the immediacy of the threat. While Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney speak of an Iranian weapons program as a fact, Bush's point man on Iran, Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns, has attempted to ratchet down the rhetoric.

I do enjoy reading McClatchy's internet news. Very little spin and more real news than you get from any other corporate news agency in the US. Back to the article...

"Iran is seeking a nuclear capability ... that some people fear might lead to a nuclear-weapons capability," Burns said in an interview Oct. 25 on PBS.

"I don't think that anyone right today thinks they're working on a bomb," said another U.S. official, who requested anonymity because of the issue's sensitivity. Outside experts say the operative words are "right today." They say Iran may have been actively seeking to create a nuclear-weapons capacity in the past and still could break out of its current uranium-enrichment program and start a weapons program. They too lack definitive proof, but cite a great deal of circumstantial evidence. Bush's rhetoric seems hyperbolic compared with the measured statements by his senior aides and outside experts.(Emphasis mine)

Gee, ya think? Bush is dying to start another war and his pet project is Iran. And what will the world do if Iran does manufacture highly enriched uranium? Nuke them? Isn't that a bit like the pot calling the kettle black? But whatever the outcome..who believes that Congress will stop the Big Dick Cheney and King George? Evidently Ahmandinejad has some 'splaining to do, from the article:

New light may be shed when the IAEA reports this month on whether Iran is fulfilling an August accord to answer all outstanding questions about the nuclear-enrichment program it long concealed from the U.N. watchdog agency.

Its report is expected to focus on Iran's work with devices that spin uranium hexafluoride gas to produce low-enriched uranium for power plants or highly enriched uranium for weapons, depending on the duration of the process.

Iran asserts that it's working only with the P1, an older centrifuge that it admitted buying in 1987 from an international black-market network headed by A.Q. Khan, the father of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal.

But IAEA inspectors determined that Iran failed to reveal that it had obtained blueprints for the P2, a centrifuge twice as efficient as the P1, from the Khan network in 1995.

Iranian officials say they did nothing with the blueprints until 2002, when they were given to a private firm that produced and tested seven modified P2 parts, then abandoned the effort.

IAEA inspectors, however, discovered that Iran sought to buy thousands of specialized magnets for P2s from European suppliers, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said last year that research on the centrifuges continued.

Scary shit my dear reader..The mushroom cloud pic is from the Hiroshima bombing..the only nuke ever dropped on a country was by the U.S..irony indeed.

British TV will air an interview w/Ahmadinejad tonight.

It should be interesting..the video should be available tomorrow and if so, I will post the link here. A pre-show writeup is here, an excerpt:

So what General Petraeus said about Iran's involvement in Iraq is only one of the areas that I shall be discussing with President Ahmadinejad in a live interview tonight from the presidential palace.

Although Iran's president has said a lot over the years he has given very few interviews to the international media.

One reason he may be keen to talk tonight is that the IAEA, the world's nuclear watchdog in Vienna, has welcomed a new move by Iran to fulfil some of the agency's demands for access to their nuclear programme - a move that has received some positive reaction in Europe.

Nobody is saying that it is yet a deal, but there does seem to have been a change of atmosphere.

That cannot be said of the pollution here in the Iranian capital. Even petrol rationing in this oil rich state for the past three months has had little effect.

On my way to the presidential palace this morning I sat as I always have in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the inner city ring road that leads from our hotel to the downtown quarter where the president's offices are located.

For the rest - the sun shines, the people bustle, and there is a striking disconnect between the outward rhetoric and the inner knowledge of the severe economic difficulties here.

What does president Ahmadinejad make of Britain's withdrawal from Basra? Does he still feel is country is a target for American and Israeli bombardment? Is he seriously interested in opening a high level path towards talks with the Western World?

All this and much more at 7, live with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
.

Must see tv? Far as I am concerned, Ahmadinejad is comparable to King George in the spin and bullshit department.

Today's Photo..er..Graphic..ok, Picture.
