Seems the esteemed senator from NV sold some land in his home state years ago and was still reporting he owned it. He actually traded the land to a buddie for a stake in his company and when the developer sold the land, ol Harry got 1.1 Million and didn't report that either..this doesn't look too good fellow liberals..The link to the ABC News writeup is here. The buddie is a lawyer and has been implicated (but never charged) in some real smarmy shit. Reid purchased the undeveloped land on the outskirts of Vegas for 400K, he then transferred ownership to his buddie and then recorded a sale of the property, 3 years later for 1.1 Million, when in fact he hadn't owned the land for 3 years.The Ethics Committee is going to hang his ass if they can..bet on it. Per the ABC News article:
"The complex dealings allowed Reid to transfer ownership, legal liability and some tax consequences to Brown's company without public knowledge, but still collect a seven-figure payoff nearly three years later."
Get it? Vegas..betting..ok, it was a stab at humor in a humorless situation.
