Doctors said Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones is in "critical condition," despite reports from a Cleveland newspaper that the Democrat died after suffering a brain aneurysm.
Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones is being treated in a Cleveland hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The newspaper reported earlier Wednesday that Tubbs Jones had died.
Ms. Tubbs-Jones was the first black woman to represent Ohio, first elected in 1998. She was also the first black woman to serve on the powerful Ways and Means Committee.
UPDATE: Ms. Tubbs-Jones passed away this evening at 6pm. :(
