Did John McCain cover his political ass?

When Cindy McCain had her 'problems' with stealing and/or being addicted to pain meds, her hubby was quick to cover her tracks for her. The man in the middle of the situation, Tom Gosinski, was ultimately fired, as a nice thank you for warning John McCain about Cindy's drug addiction and consequent stealing of said meds from the non-profit she headed.

Well, the man is speaking out and not a minute too soon in my humble yet vocal opinion. See, in AZ, which is a no-tolerance state, you get fucked over for even the slightest amount of cannabis in your possession.

Yet Cindy saw no charges or jail time... and the question now is...did Johnny keep it all on the lowdown not only to save her ass but to save his political career? After all, this all went down shortly after the Keating Five scandal. From the WaPo article linked above:

While McCain's accounts have captured the pain of her addiction, her journey through this personal crisis is a more complicated story than she has described, and it had more consequences for her and those around her than she has acknowledged.

Her misuse of painkillers prompted an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and local prosecutors that put her in legal jeopardy. A doctor with McCain's medical charity who supplied her with prescriptions for the drugs lost his license and never practiced again. The charity, the American Voluntary Medical Team, eventually had to be closed in the wake of the controversy. Her husband was forced to admit publicly that he was absent much of the time she was having problems and was not aware of them.

He wasn't aware until Tom Gosinski warned him about Cindy's drug addiction and stealing. Doctors who prescribed the meds to her lost their license to practice medicine...but nothing happened to Cindy...in the no-tolerance state of Arizona. Mr. Gosinski has said the following in his WaPo interview for the article:

"It's not just about her addiction, it's what she did to cover up her addiction and the lives of other people that she ruined, or put at jeopardy at least,"

Lives were ruined...but not Cindy and John's. Nope..Johnny ran interference with the DEA even after Gosinski reported Cindy to them.

Its a good read and worth your time folks...check it out. WaPo of course paints Cindy as a victim and cough..its not ALL her fault now is it? We can understand and emphathize with someone protecting their loved one. But protecting his own political ass, well...thats another story altogether ain't it? Well, she can take a long walk on a short pier as far as I am concerned.
