GOP eats it own Presidential candidate, the one closest to the center of course.

Eye of Newt was trying to be less rightwing nutter and more centrist, or even....gasp..moderate when he was on Meet the Press (transcript here) this past weekend. The money quote that is getting more press than anything else I think he said Sunday:
"I don't think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering."
According to most if not all political pundits, his run for the Presidency is over, less than a week after he started. That was all that was talked about today on the MSNBC political shows and probably all other news network shows. At least it was the prime story of the day for Tweety, Cenk. O'Donnell, Maddow, Ed and all the rest of the early day/evening shows on MSNBC. The biggest video of the day was Eye of Newt doing a handshake campaign and a rightwing nutter holding on to his hand as Newt tried to escape..all the while, the guy was tearing into Newt. Of course he was an Iowa voter, the most rightwing nutter group of all Republican voters:

I actually feel sorry for the fuckwit I call Eye of Newt. He sounded like more of a centrist Republican than ANYONE else running or threatening to run for President in that party of Corporate Ass-kissers. He sounded sane and logical, for a Republican...which of course pissed off the teabaggers and anyone else that wants to take the Republican party as far right as possible...like just about everyone with an R behind their name lately or that is a mouthpiece for the extremist rightwing ideology..aka Limbaugh and the all the rightwing pundits on tv, radio and in print. Fox News went batshit over it all day I believe..since I don't watch than non-news, Republican talking points only, station I can't say for absolute certainty..ok? For a catch-all of everyone that took a shot at Eye of Newt, including the dipshit emeritus Charles Krauthammer check out this link from this morning's FirstRead or just Google  Republican reaction to Newt Gingrich on Meet the Press.

His other big boo-boo? Taking Paul Ryan's bullshit idea of ending Medicare as we know it, and calling it " too big a change". All the rightwing fuckwits are of course taking this phrase as heresy. So, when he said, and I quote:
I don't think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.
All the nutters took it personal and said he was calling Ryan's entire plan radical.

Well, it fucking IS radical and not to the good..Christ, you don't have to be a damn rocket scientist to see that in Ryan's budget 'plan' as he slashes programs that help the sick, poor, elderly, etc and then actually gives another tax break to the uber rich.

They, the rightwing elected and the rightwing pundits, were probably pissing down both legs I suspect when they either read or heard Eye of Newt say both sets of phrases above.

He called Paul Ryan and begged for forgiveness. Eye of Newt is now pulling a Palin saying it was a 'Gotcha' question and taken out of context. He is blaming those damn liberals too.

No jackass, it wasn't. Read the fucking text of your little sitdown w/ David Gregory. You couldn't shut the fuck up. You didn't answer in sentences, you answered in paragraphs you friggin moron.  You have been on that show 35-fucking-times..I am quite sure you are used to how it works and how questions are framed.

You, Mr. Eye of Newt Gingrich, are a liar and a pussy. A pussy in the fact that you refuse to stand up to the racists, the Corporate ass-kissers and the haters of your own party. A pussy in the fact that you refuse to stand by Your Own Words.

And that makes you a pathetic fuck in my book.

Say Good Bye Newt, your campaign is over according to pretty much anyone that has an opinion on you and your 5th run or 10th run for President of the United States..its been so many, I forget the total number.

Hannity, Limbaugh and OReilly are all union members..

All three of the turdmongers above belong to, meaning they are members of, the American Federation Television and Radio Artists union (AFTRA), which is the AFL-CIO affiliate for television and broadcast workers.

All three have spent time bashing the shit out of unions and their workers since Scott Walker started his union-busting bullshit almost two weeks ago. From the Alternet link:

A report voted to the front page of Reddit Friday claimed that Hannity, Limbaugh and O'Reilly were union members, as well as Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter. Right-wing blogger Michelle Malkin called it the "stupid lie of the week," insisting that neither she nor the "other Fox News personalities being accused of 'hypocrisy' belong to the union." As one might expect, Malkin didn't know what she was talking about and the liberals were right (she herself, as just a frequent guest on the network, is not a member of the union).
A representative from Beck's camp denied the claim, but a source within AFTRA confirmed to AlterNet Friday that O'Reilly, Limbaugh and Hannity were indeed union members. When asked, AFTRA reps wouldn't state whether the three were members, but it did say in an official statement (see the entire statement below):
"[N]otwithstanding the union's publicly stated position on a given issue, including the attack on public sector union members currently unfolding in Wisconsin and elsewhere around the nation AFTRA fully supports the First Amendment right to free speech of all Americans, including that of any AFTRA member who wishes to express an opinion that may differ from that of AFTRA."
AFTRA also said in a separate statement that some staff at local Fox affiliate stations are represented by the union. According to its Web site, AFTRA "is a national labor union representing over 70,000 performers, journalists and other artists working in the entertainment and news media."
It "negotiates and enforces over 300 collective bargaining agreements that guarantee minimum (but never maximum) salaries, safe working conditions and health and retirement benefits." Republicans in Wisconsin voted early Friday to strip public union workers of their collective bargaining rights.
In the same segment where O'Reilly blamed government financial woes on union benefits, he not only said he was an AFTRA member, but that his membership had benefited him in the past. "On a personal note, I'm a member of a union, AFTRA, and when I was working at 'Inside Edition' some years ago, the King World company tried to renege on pension benefits," said O'Reilly. "AFTRA took them to court and the case was settled. If the shop had been non-union, we might have been stiffed."
Hypocrisy anyone? These guys are so full of shit their eyes better be brown.

William Rivers Pitt gets it.

Mitch, the rightwingers Bitch
Mr. Pitt has written an open letter to the extremists on the right at TruthOut.org. Bear in mind, he does not paint all Conservatives with his brush, only those that make their living lying, spinning and power-grabbing. I have had several email conversations over the years with Mr. Pitt, as he is quite accessible. I would like to share part of his open letter to the extremists and those culpable media types with you now:

The "mainstream" media is already working overtime playing up the "Disturbed loner" angle with all their might. There is no doubt, from the available evidence, of Mr. Loughner's transformation into a disturbed individual. But here's the funny part: all the crazy crap he spewed, about the gold standard (a favorite of Glenn Beck, the master of Fox "News" fearmongering...so he can sell his gold scam to suckers) and government mind control and everything else before going on his rampage, is straight out of the Right-Wing Insanity Handbook. His personal YouTube ramblings were a mishmash of right-wing anti-government nonsense...the kind that attracts sick minds like Loughner, the kind that only reinforces their paranoia, the kind that finally pushes them over the brink and into the frenzy of violence that took place on Saturday.  The kind that the likes of you have been happily spreading by the day.
He did not act alone. You were right there with him. You helped.
I'm talking to you, "mainstream" media people, who created this atmosphere of desperate rage and total paranoia out of whole cloth because of your unstoppable adoration for spectacle, and ratings, and because the companies that own your sorry asses agree with the deranged cretins you helped make so famous and powerful. It was sickeningly amusing on Sunday to watch Wolf Blitzer bluster and bluff on CNN about how the media owns no responsibility for this disaster. It was like watching a ten-year-old try to explain how a lamp got broken while he was running through the living room, but no, it wasn't him. It was, in reality, a pathetic display...but that is what you generally get whenever Wolf is on your screen.
"Mainstream" news personalities like David Gergen and John King bent over backwards warning people not to blame Sarah Palin and her ilk for this calamity.  It was a sick man who did this, they said. Bollocks to that.  I hate to break this to the "mainstream" media know-betters, but words matter.  When people like Palin spray the airwaves with calls to violence and incantations of imminent doom, people like Loughner are listening, and prepared to act. The "mainstream" media lets it fly without any questions or rebuttal, because it's good for ratings, and here we are. Words matter. Play Russian Roulette long enough, and someone inevitably winds up dead.
Words matter. Words have consequences. Yet the extreme right and their friends in the corporate media feel no guilt when they issue their declarations of lies that they spin as truth. They know they are lying. It's all politics all the time for them. It's about winning at any cost for them, its about power and control.

What it's not about is governing or putting forth ideas and programs that will help mainstreet americans crawl out of this recession that Wall Street's greed created. That large portions of the corporate media readily goes along for the ride by reporting their bs as truth makes them part of the problem as well.

As Mr Pitt notes, this isn't a new phenomena.  Since the time of Nixon, the extreme right has been polishing and honing their skills of obfuscation. One need only read the sickening but memorable quotes Mr. Pitt includes in his letter to see how long these extremists have been hawking their wares, like a grifter trying to suck in his next victim:

"I tell people don't kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus - living fossils - so we will never forget what these people stood for."- Rush Limbaugh, Denver Post, 12-29-95
"Get rid of the guy. Impeach him, censure him, assassinate him."- Rep. James Hansen (R-UT), talking about President Clinton
"We're going to keep building the party until we're hunting Democrats with dogs."- Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX), Mother Jones, 08-95
"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building."- Ann Coulter, New York Observer, 08-26-02
"We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."- Ann Coulter, at the Conservative Political Action Conference, 02-26-02
"Chelsea is a Clinton. She bears the taint; and though not prosecutable in law, in custom and nature the taint cannot be ignored. All the great despotisms of the past - I'm not arguing for despotism as a principle, but they sure knew how to deal with potential trouble - recognized that the families of objectionable citizens were a continuing threat. In Stalin's penal code it was a crime to be the wife or child of an 'enemy of the people.' The Nazis used the same principle, which they called Sippenhaft, 'clan liability.' In Imperial China, enemies of the state were punished 'to the ninth degree': that is, everyone in the offender's own generation would be killed and everyone related via four generations up, to the great-great-grandparents, and four generations down, to the great-great-grandchildren, would also be killed."- John Derbyshire, National Review, 02-15-01
"Two things made this country great: White men & Christianity. The degree these two have diminished is in direct proportion to the corruption and fall of the nation. Every problem that has arisen (sic) can be directly traced back to our departure from God's Law and the disenfranchisement of White men."- State Rep. Don Davis (R-NC), emailed to every member of the North Carolina House and Senate, reported by the Fayetteville Observer, 08-22-01
May your God have mercy on all your twisted souls, because I can not show you any mercy, not now, not ever.
