Nothing to see here folks...so lets move on shall we?

Unless of course you are Andrew Breitbart, the deather who wants proof. Thanks to DC at Pass TheDoucheys on the Right for the following graphic and her eloquent post on the topic of Andy the Asshole:

Our President made the right decisions..all the way around and including the one not to publish the gruesome photos of a dead murderer. I have thought a lot about all this fuckery in the last few days..and these are my conclusions:

Ya did good Barack! Thanks for taking the air out of the GOP's rallying cry that Dem's don't have the balls to do anything heavy duty or to protect americans. You proved them wrong and you know it's gonna pay off politically Obama...can't deny that one.

As for Andy B..and Glen Becky..you fools need to shut the fuck up and find something else to harp on. Obama has done what The Shrub couldn't or didn't feel needed to be done..President Obama, and the Navy Seals, took out the Figurehead of the biggest bunch of shitheels on the planet.

Jon Stewart roughs up Faux News..

He dissects the Faux News wingnuts over their response to Obama’s speech in Egypt. I do love this line about Faux’s talking heads..which include the idiot Michelle Malkkkin:

“What a torture it must be for such pretty people to see such ugly things.”

Negativity always abounds in the Faux Noise crowd. Do those assholes ever see anything positive? Nah..

Obama's complete ND speech

It should be noted that the vast majority of protesters were not students or faculty..they were outsiders. From MSNBC:
On campus, Obama entered the arena to thunderous applause and a standing ovation from many in the crowd of 12,000. But as the president began his commencement address, at least three protesters interrupted it. One yelled, "Stop killing our children."

The graduates responded by chanting "Yes we can", the slogan that became synonymous with Obama's presidential campaign. Obama seemed unfazed, saying Americans must be able to deal with things that make them "uncomfortable."

The president ceded no ground on abortion. But he said those on each side of the debate "can still agree that this is a heart-wrenching decision for any woman to make, with both moral and spiritual dimensions.

"So let's work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions by reducing unintended pregnancies, and making adoption more available, and providing care and support for women who do carry their child to term."

The religious folks must come to terms with protecting embryo's that become children. They must protect the child that is born and make sure he or she can grow to become a viable member of our society as their job isn't finished when the child is born. They can not just scream and holler about protecting the embryo, they must continue to protect the human being. That is the biggest hypocrisy to me with regard to the anti-choice crowd.

AG Holder changes FOIA guidelines.

Thursday, Holder released new guidelines for complying with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). His intent is to make government more accessible and transparent. From Jurist:
The new guidelines, designed to increase transparency in government, will rescind the Attorney General's FOIA Memorandum of October 12, 2001, which stated that the Department of Justice would defend decisions to withhold records "unless they lack a sound legal basis or present an unwarranted risk of adverse impact on the ability of other agencies to protect other important records." Instead, the Department of Justice will defend a denial of a FOIA request only if (1) the agency reasonably foresees that disclosure would harm an interest protected by one of the statutory exemptions, or (2) disclosure is prohibited by law.
This is a good thing for severals reasons and on many levels. In January, President Obama released a memo directing all department heads and agencies to lean towards transparency when dealing with FOIA requests. A section of his directive below:
All agencies should adopt a presumption in favor of disclosure, in order to renew their commitment to the principles embodied in FOIA, and to usher in a new era of open Government. The presumption of disclosure should be applied to all decisions involving FOIA.

The presumption of disclosure also means that agencies should take affirmative steps to make information public. They should not wait for specific requests from the public. All agencies should use modern technology to inform citizens about what is known and done by their Government. Disclosure should be timely.

I direct the Attorney General to issue new guidelines governing the FOIA to the heads of executive departments and agencies, reaffirming the commitment to accountability and transparency.
Good on ya President Obama...good on ya dude.

What's Obama done in his first week? Well, lemme tell ya..

He hasn't been sitting on his hands reading polls, he hasn't been giving us empty speeches or downplaying the economic crisis either. In his first week, Obama has done the following, per Bill Moyers Journal:
In his first full day in office, President Barack Obama enacted two executive orders dealing with government openness and ethics. The NEW YORK TIMES suggested that, like many presidents before him, President Obama carefully chose these orders to send a message about his priorities as President.
*snip*
In one of his first executive orders, President Obama revoked the use of executive privilige as a means for former presidents and their heirs to keep documents from becoming public. In a separate memorandum President Obama undid a post-9/11 directive from the Bush administration that had encouraged federal agencies to deny Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Additionally, President Obama signed a memorandum outlining his administration's committment to open and transparent government.
Thankfully, Obama's administration also ordered a shut down to any of Bush's midnight regulations that haven't been finalized yet.

Obama has also signed E.O's that stop torture, close Gitmo, and will now allow the federal government to fund family planning clinics outside the U.S. that counsel on abortion.

It's was a busy week for our Commander-in-Chief. And I welcome that with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.

The beginning of a new week and he is still making changes. Today, he signed an Executive Order reversing Bush's fuckery on allowing states to set their own EPA standards. As a Cali native and current resident of one of the smoggiest shitholes in the state, that makes me very happy.

120-day Hold put on Gitmo trials.

AP WaPo and Reuters are reporting that a 120 day hold has been placed on any military tribunal trials at Gitmo...by Presidential Order. From Reuters:
Hours after taking office on Tuesday, U.S. President Barack Obama ordered military prosecutors in the Guantanamo war crimes tribunals to ask for a 120-day halt in all pending cases.

Military judges were expected to rule on the request on Wednesday at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, an official involved in the trials said on condition of anonymity.

The request would halt proceedings in 21 pending cases, including the death penalty case against five Guantanamo prisoners accused of plotting the September 11 hijacked plane attacks in 2001.

Prosecutors said in their written request the halt was "in the interests of justice."

This is a great day folks. ;)

You gotta love Dr. Joseph E. Lowery

Best part of the ceremony...other than President Obama's speech of course, was the right Rev Lowery's benediction. The last part made me want to get up and yell AMEN Brotha! Preach it!
With your hands of power and your heart of love, help us then, now, Lord, to work for that day when nations shall not lift up sword against nation, when tanks will be beaten into tractors, when every man and every woman shall sit under his or her own vine and fig tree and none shall be afraid, when justice will roll down like waters and righteousness as a mighty stream.

Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around … when yellow will be mellow … when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen
.
