ICC believes Gaddafi ordered mass rapes.

I would not be surprised in the least, as he is the top batshit crazy, surpassing Kim Jong-Il and rivaling Sudan's Al-Bashir. From the UK's Telegraph:
The International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor has said that Libyan leader Muammer Gaddafi ordered mass rapes and bought containers of sex drugs for troops to attack women.

Luis Moreno-Ocampo said he may ask for a new charge of mass rape to be made against Gaddafi following the new evidence.

The chief International Criminal Court prosecutor is expecting a decision from judges within days on his request for crimes against humanity charges against the Libyan leader.

"Now we are getting some information that Gaddafi himself decided to rape, and this is new," Mr Moreno-Ocampo said.

He said there were reports of hundreds of women attacked in some areas of Libya, which is in the grip of a months-long internal rebellion.

Mr Moreno-Ocampo said there was evidence that the Libyan authorities bought "Viagra-type" medicines and gave them to troops as part of the official rape policy.
The UN needs to shit or get off the pot when it comes to getting rid of the garbage heap called Gaddafi. But that isn't likely as they have allowed Sudan's murderer to stay in power for decades and continue his genocide, just for one example, knowing full well what he was and continues to do to the people of Darfur.

Also, check out the latest from Matt Taibbi on how Goldman Sachs tried to sell their soul to this pond scum sucking miscreant.

Hey Obama, why not Sudan if your in an warmongering mood?

If our head honcho wanted to attack a nation that has a civil war/genocide action going and is Muslim..why didn't he go into Sudan? I mean really, you wanna spend money we don't have, go whole hog dude and kick some ass in the Darfur region..ya know what I mean fer christ sakes?

Darfur has been in a constant state of civil war since 1983, if not longer. WTF? They have friggin oil too if that is the main reason for going into Libya, which is my general  take on the fuckery and why the US, France, etc went batshit into the hell hole known as Libya.

Sudan has been listed as a terrorist-supporting state since Bush was sitting his ass in the Oval office.

Ah, but the Chinese are pretty much running the show in Sudan and the IMF (Intl Monetary Fund) controls the purse strings. That the IMF is involved tells you that keeping Sudan poor and broke is the goal. Fucking IMF and their economic control over impoverished nations should be bombed out of existence in my pov...but that is probably not going to happen any time soon, just based on history.

That, in a friggin nutshell is why Sudan in general and Darfur specifically are royally fucked and Obama could give a shit.

Guess I answered my own fucking question.

Ps...back at home, but moving slowly and in a lot of pain. Wearing a big-assed, nasty back brace too, which the doc says I will have to continue for around three months..oh joy to that bit o' news. . I think a 95 year old woman gets around better than I do at this point. So saying I am a tad cranky is an understatement. ;)

Manute Bol dead at 47

Most people will remember Manute as the 7ft 7in NBA center from the country of Sudan.

I will remember him as someone that spent his life, after basketball, fighting the good fight for his countrymen and women. A quote from Charles Barkley sums it up for me:
"You know, a lot of people feel sorry for him, because he's so tall and awkward," Charles Barkley, a former 76ers teammate, once said. "But I'll tell you this -- if everyone in the world was a Manute Bol, it's a world I'd want to live in."
Sudan is still a nightmare that never ends, a horrible place to live and die, but Manute Bol fought for what was right until he became very sick and had to return to the United States. Manute died from complications from Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a rare skin disease that he contracted from a medication he received in Africa.

Rest in peace big man...I hope your native land will find peace as well some day.

UN Peacekeepers attacked in Darfur

This is the first instance of violence against the Peacekeepers since the murderer that runs Sudan, President Omar al-Bashir, had a warrant issued for him by the ICC (International Criminal Court). From VOA:

The joint UN-African Union peacekeeping mission said the peacekeepers were ambushed by five or six unidentified gunmen on Monday evening while driving near the town of El-Geneina in West Darfur.

The peacekeepers, three Nigerians and one Rwandan, were flown to a base in the town of El-Fasher for treatment, according to the mission, with one of the soldiers in critical condition.

The supporters of Al-Bashir have organized several rallies against American’s and the Europeans that support the ICC warrant. Al-Bashir has expelled at least 13 aid groups, saying they are passing information on to the ICC. It’s going to get uglier before it gets better in Sudan…bet on it. The Sudanese are starving and dying in record numbers and they will pay the ultimate price for the actions of the ICC.

Arrest warrant issued for Sudanese President

The warrant isn't for genocide...but crimes against humanity. From MSNBC:
THE HAGUE, Netherlands - The Netherlands-based International Criminal Court on Wednesday announced an arrest warrant for Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Darfur region — a move that could provoke a violent backlash.

But the three-judge panel said there was insufficient evidence to support charges of genocide.

"He is suspected of being criminally responsible ... for intentionally directing attacks against an important part of the civilian population of Darfur, Sudan, murdering, exterminating, raping, torturing and forcibly transferring large numbers of civilians, and pillaging their property," court spokeswoman Laurence Blairon said.

I can't believe there isn't enough evidence of genocide..wtf do these guys need to charge this bastard with genocide?

This is the first warrant against a sitting leader by the ICC. Whether they will ever be able to put this piece of shit on trial is another story entirely.

ICC to issue arrest warrant for Sudan President.

With any luck the worthless bastard will be charged with genocide in the Darfur region. The International Criminal Court is considering issuing a warrant for Omar Hassan al-Bashir, the so-called President of Sudan. From CNN:

The ambassador said Friday that the International Criminal Court has indicated to Sudanese officials that al-Bashir may be charged over the five-year campaign of violence in the country's Darfur region.

If the warrant is issued by Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo it would make al-Bashir the first sitting president to be indicted by the ICC for genocide.

If wishing could make it so, this man would of been tried years ago and 400,000 people wouldn't of been killed as well as the 2.5 million had their villages razed and now live in squalor in refugee camps.

Ironically, the US doesn't recognize the ICC. Ain't that a bitch my dear reader.

China however has allowed this to happen. They have vetoed every resolution brought forth by the UN

Global Day for Darfur

QuakerDave has a post up about today. As usual, I am a day late and a devalued dollar short..but I will bring up this topic to educate and make us all aware of what is happening in Darfur..and goes largely ignored by the media in general.

The deathtoll in Darfur is a nightmare, a real nightmare...The children..that is what surrounds me the most..the affect on the children of Darfur. The most innocent of victims.

Five years of war means there are now school-aged children that have experienced nothing but violence in their short lives.

A million children have grown up in refugee camps. A million. Over 2.6 million people are estimated to have been displaced.

Today is the Global Day for Darfur. Citizens around the world will call on their governments and the United Nations to act decisively to get the joint UN-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) on the ground more fully and more quickly so that the children of Darfur - and the millions of civilians affected by five years of brutal violence and displacement - can live in peace.

Take a moment and visit here: The Voice of Darfur. Each picture holds an audio file, a story of the horror that is Darfur..five years on.

Here is a post I wrote in January of this year about the signing statement Bush added to the Sudan Divestiture Bill he signed. Our Fuckwit-in-Chief can not even bring himself to do what twenty-two states and more than fifty universities have already done.. passed and honor divestment measures from problematic companies in Sudan.

Our federal government condones the murder and genocide in Darfur with Bush's signing statement..but we do not have to.

Spielberg bitchslaps China publicly over Darfur

It really isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but for Steven Spielberg to publicly withdraw from his participation in the Beijing Olympics, and to cite his reason as the ongoing violence in Darfur and China's role..well, its noble.

The Chinese leaders are mulling over their response. Surely this is embarrassing for them..at least I hope it is.

Two-thirds of the oil sold in Sudan is sold to China. In spite of their insistence that they have no power over the thugs that run Sudan, China is part of the problem..a huge part of it. They lobby for the thugs in UN meetings and resolutions, just as an example. Part of Mr. Spielberg's statement:

"I find that my conscience will not allow me to continue business as usual," he said in a statement. At this point, my time and energy must be spent not on Olympic ceremonies, but on doing all I can to help bring an end to the unspeakable crimes against humanity that continue to be committed in Darfur. Sudan's government bears the bulk of the responsibility for these on-going crimes, but the international community, and particularly China, should be doing more."

Amen to that Mr. Spielberg.

There is no greater disaster than greed

There is no calamity greater than lavish desires.

There is no greater guilt than discontentment.

And there is no greater disaster than greed.

Lao-tzu

Chinese philosopher (604 BC - 531 BC)

President Bush signed a bill this past Monday that will allow federal, state and local governments to divest themselves of investments that do business with the smarmy bastards running the country of Sudan. As recently as 2004 Secretary of State Colin Powell signaled Washington's intention to relax sanctions and allow U.S. companies to take advantage of Sudan's oil wealth. Of course the signing of 'the bill' doesn't stop any of these municipalities and government entities from keeping their investments either. Only public pressure and lots of negative publicity will further the cause of shunning corporations that do business with murderers.

The other thing it doesn't do is make any of the Big Oil Companies stop assisting in the pumping of that black gold out of the ground in Sudan. With oil being what it is, does anyone think for a minute that the piece of paper The Shrub signed actually does anything to change the horrific situation in Darfur? Please, these companies will always find a way around laws and rules, take that to the bank my dear reader. How many companies lined Saddam's pockets during the infamous embargo of the last two decades?

And what about our BFF China? They don't give a tinkers damn about human rights abuses, hell those chumps lead the charge. Two of the biggest business partners with the pigs in Sudan are PetroChina and Tafneft (a Russian enterprise). British Petroleum (BP) and Shell are also stock holders in the Chinese enterprise.

Those two countries I just named also hold veto power in the UN. Now, isn't that special?
